Two days ago, at midday, in the Blok 5 neighborhood of Podgorica, several vehicles exploded, the head of the criminal police, Milan Tomic, resigned, and there are hints that the first police officers in Podgorica, Budva and Bar will be replaced.
Due to these and similar incidents, murders and confrontations, which do not stop during the entire tenure of the Minister of the Interior Raško Konjević, the opposition members of the security committee are convinced that several shifts cannot solve the issue of responsibility, and that Minister Konjević should also resign. . According to them, the director of the police also shares the responsibility, reports TV Vijesti.
If there was a rule of law, the entire government would be responsible, says analyst Blagoje Grahovac.
Member of the parliamentary committee for security, Velizar Kaluđerović, says that Tomić and the possible departure of a few more policemen do not solve the problem
"If it is a question of the call for objective responsibility made by Mr. Konjević, then this objective responsibility must go to the very top of the government, from the director of the police administration to the minister of the interior, to the Prime Minister," Kaluđerović pointed out.
Darko Pajović from Pozitivna will be at the closed session of the Security Committee on Monday, which will be attended by Minister Raško Konjević as well as the plenum.
"We will demand his responsibility. Before that, we will ask him to tell us how he sees the solution to the situation in which the security sector in Montenegro is today. Of course, it is not enough to replace one person, I repeat, fundamental reforms are also necessary," Pajović pointed out.
The analyst Blagoje Grahovac is even more critical.
"If there was a rule of law, the entire government would be responsible, not just the minister, especially since this government has been at the helm for two and a half years, every day they promise something, the situation is getting worse," said Grahovac.
The replacement of the Minister of Internal Affairs is also sought by the group of citizens, Alternative Montenegro, based in Nikšić. The reason, as stated in the announcement, is the general decline in security and a series of unsolved crimes.
The leader of Pozitivna is convinced that party staffing also contributed to the deterioration of the security situation.
"Bringing professionals, not politically eligible people, to places that are of great importance for the safety of citizens. We tried many experiments with politically loyal personalities, and as a result we have the current security situation," adds Pajović.
For the interlocutors of TV Vijesti, it is a rhetorical question, whether there can be reforms in the police with the government that has been under accusations of party recruitment, unprofessional administration and connection with crime for two and a half decades.
"The only way to fix it is to change the government. The bottom line is, there are quite enough indicators that the focal point is at the top of the two leading parties, so the focal point should be resolved," concludes Grahovac.
Kaluđerović states that the answer could also be a transitional government.
"This government does not have a clear political will to truly tackle and deal with crime and corruption at a high level, because there is a connection between people from the very top of the government and organized crime," said Kaluđerović.
