The adoption of the Draft Law on the Special State Prosecutor's Office hangs in the balance if the DPS does not agree that the Supreme State Prosecutor (VDT) Ivica Stanković proposes a special prosecutor to the Prosecutorial Council or if the SDP does not give up on such an idea and agrees to the proposal of the Minister of Justice Duško Marković to exclude the VDT from the selection of the special prosecutor.
Although the parties have not yet determined their final positions, MPs from Nova, PzP and Milan Knežević's DNP will most likely not vote or will abstain on the law, while so far only SDP and Pozitivna (13 MPs) support Stanković's request that he propose a special one.
An absolute majority, i.e. 41 deputies, is required for the adoption of the law. DPS with minority parties has 37, so it needs four more MPs to support it. The Parliamentary Club of the SNP supported the election of Stanković, so it is not excluded that part of that party sided with the SDP, Pozitivna and Stanković.
Part of the DF MPs announces that they will remain on the sidelines during the vote on the proposal for the Law on Special Prosecutor's Office, despite the fact that they have more opportunities to harm the DPS. They have the option to propose their own amendments, to support the proposal of MANS according to which the VDT gives the final word on the special on the proposal of the Prosecutor's Council, or to side with SDP and Pozitivna.
Such a neutral position on the part of the DF provides the DPS with the possibility to collect four deputies or to block the passing of the law on USKOK, which could have a negative impact on NATO and EU integration.
Only the Civic Club of Miodrag Lekić and Zoran Miljanić, as part of the DF, is considering the possibility of amending the Bill on the Special Prosecutor's Office.
Nova, PzP and DNP believe that the dispute over the method of election of VDT is a calculation between DPS and SDP. Member of the Political System Committee, Slaven Radunović, said that he would suggest to his colleagues not to interfere in it. PZP MP Veljko Vasiljević also said that they do not want an "amendment bill": "Let the corruption brothers come to an agreement."
Vladislav Bojović (DNP), a member of the Committee, is looking for the background in the fact that the President of the Committee for the Political System Rifat Rastoder (SDP) did not schedule a session for this week where the amendments were supposed to be discussed.
"This indicates that the reason for the postponement of the plenary session does not lie in the need for additional reading and analysis of the laws, but they are much deeper and concern, on the one hand, the already evident conflict between Marković and Stanković, and then the already seen fight for the privatization of the prosecutor's office between SDP and DPS", he told "Vijesta".
Radunović: Nova never works for DPS
"Those who decided to cooperate with the DPS should bear responsibility for that, and not for us to save them and for them to play Don Quixote. My political work and Nova have not helped the DPS in any way," said Slaven Radunović when asked if such a decision is helping the DPS. He added that "those who have jumped in and helped the DPS so far" are thinking about it and calculating with it.
