The first congress of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) will be held by March at the latest, "Vijesti" has learned. Milan Knežević's party submitted the documents for registration to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and after the documents are officially approved, the party headquarters will start organizing the first congress.

"The legal procedure has been completed and we are expecting talks with the representatives of the party in Montenegro in order to prepare for the first congress. This will officially start our work and present the party," said the interlocutor of "Vijesti" from the DNP.

The founding congress of the Democratic People's Party was held at the end of November, after which Knežević entered into consultations with the coordination committees of the political group he led in order to register the party.

DNP was formed from Knežević's political grouping, created after the decision of him, Predrag Bulatović and several officials of the Socialist Party people's party to join the Democratic Front despite the opposition of the party headquarters.

After the founding congress, Knežević explained that his party will promote a society of social justice, the construction of the rule of law, democratic principles and standards.

The party, which will function within the framework of the DF, will promote European integration, advocate that Montenegro remain in the partnership for peace, while the eventual decision to join NATO would have to be made in a referendum.
