The Security and Defense Committee will consider today the amendments to the Law on the National Security Agency (ANB), which foresees activities for the implementation of the action plan for the realization of its reforms in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration and the fulfillment of recommendations for the invitation to membership in NATO.
"The adoption of the law serves the purpose of achieving one of the strategic security interests and goals of Montenegro, which refers to the legal organization of national security in accordance with the Constitution, norms of international law and state obligations," the explanation says.
The proposed amendments to the Law implemented high standards in the application of means and methods of data collection, prescribed procedures in the use of means and methods of secret data collection, specified conditions for international data exchange, specifics for the organization of ANB's work, authorizations and responsibilities of employees.
"The adoption of the law represents a normative assumption for further profiling of the ANB appropriate to international/NATO/standards, with the basic goal of qualitative opposition to security challenges, risks and threats," the proposed document states.
It is estimated that untimely enactment of the law would slow down activities on the implementation of recommendations related to the invitation to Montenegro for NATO membership.
