The amendments of the Bosniak Party (BS), Force and the Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) regarding affirmative action at the local level are grounded in the Constitution and there is no reason to withdraw them, said BS Vice President Suljo Mustafić. Commenting on the proposal of Positive Montenegro on withdrawing the amendment in order to enable the adoption of the electoral law, Mustafić said that minority parties have every right to seek affirmation at the local level as legitimate representatives of their communities." There is no reason to withdraw the amendment and we call on the Positive and Social Democratic Party (SDP), who were acceptable proposals of the minority parties in the Working Group, to support the amendments in the Collegium as well and thus reach a consensus on the only remaining issue related to the electoral law," Mustafić told the MINA agency. He claims that the representatives of Pozitivna and SDP in the Working Group, which worked on election laws for about eight months, supported the minority parties' proposal for authentic representation at the local level. Mustafić assessed that the proposal that, if the amendment is abandoned, the parliament would have to resolve the issue of affirmative action by the end of the year, is contradictory because even then, as he said, it could be expected that minority parties' right to representation would be challenged in the same way. in local parliaments.
"Standing for reform values and a multi-national citizen Montenegro is a strange phenomenon, if at the same time you dispute the right of the minority peoples to what is overlooked by the Constitution," Mustafić said.
