The Parliamentary Committee for International Relations and Emigrants gave a positive opinion on the proposal that Petar Popović be appointed as the ambassador of Montenegro to Greece.

The President of the Committee, Miodrag Vuković, said that representatives of the Democratic Front voted against that proposal at a session that was closed to the public.

Vuković clarified that the DF MPs justified their decision to vote against the position that ambassadors should be appointed "fully proven career diplomats".

"Eight members of the Committee were in favor of the proposal that Popović be appointed ambassador to Greece, while two representatives of the Front voted against," Vuković told reporters after the Committee session.

He explained that the MPs of the Front justified their decision to vote against the position that "professional diplomats with a proven track record" should be appointed as ambassadors.

The board unanimously gave a positive opinion on the proposal that Miroslav Šćepanović be appointed as the ambassador of Montenegro to Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark, on a non-resident basis with headquarters in Podgorica.

"Šćepanović received the unanimous support of the members of the Board as a junior staff member who has been involved in diplomacy from the beginning," said Vuković.

He stated that the candidacy of Željko Perović for the post of non-resident ambassador of Montenegro to Spain and Portugal with headquarters in Podgorica also received unanimous support from the Board.

"Perović has a long diplomatic career and he received the unanimous support of the Committee for appointment to that position," said Vuković.
