The State Audit Institution (DRI) gave a positive opinion on the financial report of the Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) for last year, and Marija Vučinović's party ended last year with a thousand euros in its account.

It is stated that HGI received 138.488 euros from the state budget for regular work, while 11.384 euros were paid to it from local self-governments. The party reportedly received 621 euros from private sources. HGI received 5.093 euros from the municipality of Kotor and 6.290 euros from the municipality of Tivat, while 282 euros were collected from membership fees. The report also points out that almost eight thousand were spent on employee salaries, 23.400 euros were paid for compensation to party officials, and 10.150 for work contracts. Advertising costs amounted to 9.825, while 16.500 euros were paid for sponsorships and scholarships. The report states that the party paid scholarships to 12 students in the monthly amount of 100 euros. The costs of the national team, as stated, amounted to 3.225 euros, while "8.191 euros were paid for aid and other non-material costs."

"Revenues were realized in the amount of 150.755 euros, which is 44.215 more than planned, while expenses were realized in the amount of 94.094, which is 12.445 less than the planned expenses," the SAI report states.

The SAI warned Marija Vučinović's party that after closing the business books and submitting the financial report to the competent institutions, it should not be entered in the business books in that year.

"HGI concludes work contracts in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Obligations and defines the tasks and the period of engagement of the executor accordingly", the statement says and points out that HGI does not provide records of claims from local self-governments in its business books.

"It is recommended that the subject of the audit provide a record of receivables from local self-governments in the business books. The records should be based on certified and harmonized documentation with local self-governments", the state auditors point out.

The report points out that EUR 4.800 was paid in cash from the HGI coffers for help and sponsorships, while EUR 4.300 was paid to persons in a state of social need, the birth of a child, and for religious holidays. It is also stated that EUR 500 was donated to a media company, while aid was paid to individuals in the amount of EUR 100 to EUR 1.050. From the treasury, 3.014 euros were paid for official trips, 194 euros for transportation, while the costs of the national team amounted to 628 euros. 1.473 euros were spent on per diems for official trips in the country and abroad and accommodation, and 1.525 euros were spent on the use of private vehicles for official trips.

It is emphasized that the party, when engaging executors under the work contract, should provide data on the labor and legal status of all engaged persons in order to properly calculate tax obligations.

The SAI said that the financial audit for last year also verified the implementation of the recommendations from the Audit Report for 2016. The audit of the annual financial report found that HGI implemented six recommendations and did not implement two.
