Omer Vukić, candidate for councilor of the election list "Sdp Bar for changes - Dr. Draginja Vuksanović" announced today that "constantly increasing" traffic problems on the local road from the village of Sveti Ivan to the Kamenica bridge via the MZ Mrkojevići, adding that the Municipality of Bar and the Ministry of traffic and despite the initial initiative to solve this problem, "unfortunately, they gave up and completely neglected the residents of Mrkojević and the surrounding area".
He pointed out that the Mrkojevics are "extremely hardworking people", who built most of the infrastructure themselves "which they still do today", that they have huge agricultural, economic and tourist potential, but they cannot be used due to infrastructure problems "so no the long-term outflow of the population from this region to abroad, in search of a better life, is surprising".
"The local road, 10,5 km long, once part of the regional road to Ulcinj, is now in an extremely bad condition, with many potholes, several strong slopes, landslides, impossible curves and narrowings due to the influence of stormwater. It is the main road for the residents of Mrkojević, but also for the residents of Anamalje and Ostros, according to Bar. It can also be said that it is international, because it is the main road for the border crossing Sukobin - Murićan, which is crossed annually by two million passengers and over 500.000 vehicles, of which in July and August over 900.000 passengers and 200.000, which produces huge queues on this road, frequent accidents, vehicle damage and significantly increases the travel time for all road users," said Vukić.
He reminded that, on the initiative of the SDP councilor in SO Bar, back in 2015, this problem found a place in the local budget and EUR 300.000 was allocated for land expropriation in connection with future reconstruction, and that the Ministry of Transport had allocated EUR XNUMX million for that reconstruction. "and started the process of creating the main project".
Vukić points out that, unfortunately, nothing has been done on the road to date, nor is it known at what stage the construction of the project itself is, and the biggest problem now is that the reconstruction is no longer in the capital budget of the Municipality of Bar, nor in the budget of the Ministry of Transport, "someone simply deleted", so the residents of Mrkojević "reasonably wonder why this is the attitude of the local self-government towards them, and why someone just ignored their everyday and biggest problem".
"Instead of the complete condition of the road, its importance and the increasing frequency of traffic, the reconstruction has already been completed, it seems that it has been completely abandoned. Do we need more traffic accidents with a fatal outcome for anything to be done, and why does the management of the Municipality point out that for Bar, some other local road routes with negligible traffic frequency are of exceptional importance? It is incomprehensible that there is no will and desire to solve this issue, which is of multiple importance for the municipality and the residents themselves. SDP Bar will continue in the future, as well as until now, to strongly advocate that this road be recategorized into a regional road, which by all parameters and standards it belongs to, and start the reconstruction that is absolutely necessary," concluded Vukić.
