Donald Tusk, President of the Council of Europe and Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission sent a joint congratulations to President Milo Đukanović on his victory in the presidential elections and wished him every success in performing this responsible duty, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) announced today.
"Montenegro is an important partner of the European Union, which, with its constant progress in accession negotiations, remains in a leading position for EU enlargement," Tusk and Junker pointed out, adding that progress in the rule of law will be decisive for the overall pace of negotiations.
DPS said that Tusk and Junker expressed their belief that Đukanović will contribute to the establishment of a social consensus in favor of EU integration, bearing in mind that EU membership requires the support of all segments of society and reiterated the EU's firm support for the Montenegrin reform agenda.
