The President of the Board of Directors of the Alternative Institute, Stevo Muk, assessed that there are several reasons why DPS head Milo Đukanović once again brutally attacked the independent media, the opposition and the non-governmental sector - from the homogenization of the electorate before possible early parliamentary elections, to nervousness over the fact that they constantly they remind of the past at a time when a significant number of his friends are under investigations, indictments and judgments.
At the DPS election conference of the capital, Đukanović said the day before yesterday that crime in Montenegro "is being talked about by those who are promoters of crime, that drug addiction is being talked about by a member of parliament who is a proven drug addict", that multi-ethnicity and multiculturalism are being talked about by "those who led the columns on Tuza"...
Muk says that Đukanović's latest speech represents politics and the vocabulary of continuity - labeling, difficult qualifications, public reckoning.

"More or less, he has now repeated the same qualifications and evaluations at the expense of the opposition and part of the media in one speech, as he has communicated before. "It is possible that Đukanović is speaking in the same way today in order to homogenize his own electorate in preparation for the next elections," said Muk.
Patriotic rhetoric finds fertile ground
On the other hand, says Muk, the head of the DPS wants to show that he is still the undisputed leader in the party and the state, who will determine the place and measure of all other subjects on the public stage.
Đukanović is aware of the fact that a significant number of his friends in the country and the region are under investigation
"Incendiary patriotic rhetoric, in which he is the guarantor of statehood, and all other traitors, continues to find fertile ground in the electorate, and that is what he wants to further strengthen," said Muk.
He believes that what hurts Đukanović the most is that the independent media, non-governmental organizations and part of the parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition are living witnesses of "his misdeeds from the period of twenty years in power" and that they have no intention of making him forget it, but on the contrary constantly remind the public.
"But more than that, Đukanović is aware of the fact that a significant number of his friends in the country and the region are under investigations, indictments and judgments and that the circle of opportunities he had before is irresistibly narrowing," Muk assessed.
I don't believe, added Muk, that anyone in the international community can be happy about this kind of rhetoric from Đukanović.
"That is why it is questionable how long such a division in the public appearances of the DPS, in which the 'good guy' is Prime Minister Igor Lukšić, and the 'bad guy' Đukanović, will be able to go unnoticed, that is, not to cause concern in important international addresses for which Đukanović is still a part of the political past", said the head of the Alternative Institute.
It does not change the European exchange rate
Muk does not agree with the assessments that Đukanović is trying to change the European course of the Government and DPS with such performances so that in December the Council of the EU would not give a date for negotiations to Montenegro.
