In anticipation of the upcoming local elections, which will also be held in Kolašin on May 27 this year, Democratic Montenegro submitted to the Kolašin Municipal Election Commission (MEC) the electoral list "Aleksa Bečić - Democrats - Victory, not division - Come home, because we have a plan for a modern city," the party announced today.
The announcement adds that there are 31 candidates for councilor on the election list, led by Vladimir Martinović, a law graduate.
The party said that, in addition to the councilor candidates, a number of high-ranking officials of the Democratic Montenegro, led by the party's president, Aleks Bečić, attended the handing over of the list.
The president of the Democrats, Aleksa Bečić, said that the Democrats will fulfill all their promises, and that as the holders of the new government, they will implement everything outlined in the Program.
"It is not something that is our arbitrary interpretation, it is not something that is questionable, that is what I promise you, that is what I claim, because as we gave our word in the coastal municipalities, so I give you my word today. Democrats will lead the local government in Kolašin after May 27. We can do it, we deserve it, we have the support of the citizens and we are ready to meet their expectations, but also the many challenges, bearing in mind the problems and doubts that inevitably they exist," said Bečić.
As announced by Democratic Montenegro, Bečić also referred to the key, strategic and existential problem of people from this area, which is displacement, mass migration and, above all, the departure of those who are the basis of any system, namely young people.
"We want to stop it. We need the help of both the citizens of Kolašin and those people who left. Our door is open to you, our hand is extended to you. These are your hearths, this is your city. We must together create the foundations for a much more beautiful and a much different future. We know what motivated you to go. You had reasons, you had justifications, the system was degraded, it forced you to do it, but here is a team of clean people, professional people, energetic people who are ready to build together with you a much nicer future", emphasized Bečić.
"Kolašin is the city of all citizens, this is the country of all of us and we must move forward together. So, come home, because we have a plan for a modern city. We are waiting for you!", said Bečić.
Martinović pointed out that the Democrats, both in Kolašin and in the whole of Montenegro, represent a new political value, and the confirmation of that is the list itself, which consists of 30 percent of university students, 30 percent of students and 30 percent of women.
He also referred to the campaign, saying that the Democrats will run an exclusively positive and modern campaign.
"The focus of our campaign will be the life problems of the citizens of Kolašin and we will not allow anyone to drag us into the political mud in which they have been swimming for 30 years. What will be our priority is certainly that we will not allow the Democratic Party of Socialists with its satellites to return to power in Kolašin, but I also want to promise the citizens of Kolašin that we will constitute the future government exclusively on democratic and principled grounds," said Martinović.
