Part of the findings from the "Analysis of the Media Sector in Montenegro with Recommendations for Harmonization with the Standards of the Council of Europe and the European Union" prepared by the JUFREX working group is not correct, and the Deputy Prime Minister Zoran Pažin used it to moderate the European Commission's criticism of the political pressure on the DPS - to the RTCG Council, announced the director of the Media Center, Goran Đurović.
At the media conference on the occasion of the publication of the Report on Montenegro, Pažin said, among other things, that "concerned by the JUFREX report, which states that the Public Service has been taken over by the traditional opposition".
Đurović announced that the Analysis stated: "Political turmoil in 2016 resulted in a temporary government in which the ruling party and the opposition had to share power to an extent like never before. One of the opposition's demands related to changes in the management structure of the RTCG and more space to appoint members of the Council who are not closely associated with the dominant party. The result was a Council composition that, for the first time, was controlled by the traditional opposition. The new Council immediately appointed a Director General, who on the other hand appointed individuals of different backgrounds to numerous important positions. political pedigree".
"The Montenegrin public, including Pažin, knows that in 2016 the opposition's request in the negotiations on the holding of parliamentary elections was related to the resignation of the then director of the TVCG, Radojka Rutović. There was no opposition demand related to changes in the RTCG Council. The result of the negotiations of the authorities and of the opposition was the resignation of the former director Rutović and her colleagues. There were no changes in the RTCG Council, so the finding that the RTCG Council was "for the first time controlled by the traditional opposition" is incorrect, said Đurović.
He points out that it is incorrect that "some new RTCG Council immediately appointed a general director who appointed individuals of "a different political pedigree" to important positions".
"The Council of the RTCG was appointed in June 2014 and was not changed until the illegal dismissals in November and December 2017. The same Council of the RTCG elected Rad Vojvodić as the general director in 2015 and dismissed him in December 2016. The same RTCG Council elected Andrijana Kadija as general director in March 2017, which clearly indicates the fact that the findings that speak of the alleged control of the "traditional opposition" are incorrect. If the authors of this Analysis do not distance themselves from this part of the document, which is generally considered good, we will consider that incorrect data was entered for the needs of the Democratic Party of Socialists in order to, based on incorrect allegations, justify their illegal actions and dismissals in the RTCG Council," Đurović concluded.
It remains to be seen whether the authors of the analysis will react and explain how these incorrect statements got into the analysis, that is, whether they were part of the document from the beginning, or were "added" later.
