The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration issued a statement emphasizing that the head of Montenegrin diplomacy, Milan Roćen, last night, at the reception for the participants of the Ministerial Meeting of the North Atlantic Council of NATO in Berlin, had short meetings with a dozen of his colleagues and statesmen from some of the most influential countries in the world .
"At the reception for the participants of the meeting, Roćen had a short meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel, who particularly emphasized the importance of Prime Minister Igor Lukšić's official visit to Berlin.
He also discussed this with Minister Gid Westervele, who confirmed his interest in visiting Montenegro at the first opportunity.
During shorter separate meetings with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Roćen introduced the high-ranking interlocutors to the activities of the Montenegrin chairmanship of the Adriatic Charter," the announcement reads.
Koča Pavlović (PzP) said that the photos show that Merkel and Clinton are not even looking in the direction of Minister Rocen: "You can even see that they are talking to someone other than our minister."
It is added that Roćen informed the interlocutors about the activities of the Montenegrin chairmanship of the Adriatic Charter and the preparations for the Ministerial meeting in Budva, which will be held on the sidelines of the SEECP (Southeastern Europe Cooperation Process) Ministerial Meeting on June 29.
Then an agreement is expected on the initiative to deploy a regional team of instructors within the ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
It is an initiative that a joint team of instructors from the countries of the former Yugoslavia trains Afghan soldiers.
"The invitation for this meeting will be sent to Secretary of State Clinton and Secretary General Rasmussen," the MVPEI notes.
"You bump into different people"
At the request of "Vijesta" to comment on the nature of such meetings at cocktail parties after conferences, a diplomat of a Western country said: "At such receptions you run into various people and talk to them".
An official of the German administration said that "Chancellor Merkel's meeting with Rocen as part of the conference was not planned in advance."
"During the ministerial meeting of the North Atlantic Council of NATO in Berlin, Secretary of State Clinton had the honor of meeting with several foreign ministers. On that occasion, she had the pleasure of meeting with Minister Rocen," American embassy spokeswoman Shelly Seaver told "Vijesta".
Pavlović: Merkel and Clinton look the other way
PzP spokesperson Koča Pavlović assessed that Roćen cannot get over the fact that he was not a member of Prime Minister Lukšić's delegation during his visit to Berlin and that he tried in vain to schedule official meetings with German Foreign Minister Gid Westerwell and Chancellor Merkel during the NATO ministerial meeting. a.
"Despite this, driven by an excessive desire to present himself to the domestic public as still an important interlocutor of German and American officials, Minister Roćen tried to falsely present his random cocktail meetings at the official reception on the occasion of this NATO meeting as "shorter meetings" with Chancellor Merkel" or as "separate meetings with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton", said Pavlović.
He added that the photos show that Merkel and Clinton are not even looking in the direction of Minister Rocen: "You can even see that they are talking to someone else and not our minister - all this shows the low branches to which Montenegrin diplomacy, led by another Born. Comrade Roćen met the respected leaders of Germany and the USA at the aforementioned cocktail party only because those personalities were in the same room with Roćen, and obviously, they could not avoid knocking with the head of our diplomacy".
Contact with New Zealand
In Berlin, Roćen also met with his colleague from Afghanistan Zalmai Rasul, Belgium's Steven Vanakere who announced his visit to Podgorica at the beginning of next week, Slovakia's Mikulas Djurinda and Portugal's Luis Amado.
"During the conversation with UK Minister William Hague, the importance of establishing political contacts at the highest level was emphasized. "Several ministers have announced their visits to Montenegro during this year, including OSCE Chairman Lithuanian Minister Audronius Ažubalis, as well as Georgian and Jordanian Foreign Ministers Grigol Vashadze and Nasser Jude," said MVPEI.
It is added that the first contact at the ministerial level was also established with the Minister of New Zealand Mori McCully.
