Katnić: I'm sorry that they are inciting the people to protest, they'd better plant onions

Chief Special Prosecutor Milivoje Katnić believes that there is no reason for him to step down from that position, despite the citizens' request that he resign.

Katnić told Dan that the results he has achieved since he was appointed provide an answer to the question of whether or not he will resign.

"Judge for yourself based on everything I have done. Ask Duško Knežević and others whom I prosecuted if I will resign. Ask the members of the 13 organized criminal groups that I brought to justice. I believe that the 88 accused and 28 indictments brought to justice will also give you the answer for organized crime," answered Katnić when asked if he would resign.

The citizens who gather at the protests demand that Katnic resign because of selective justice, but he claims that he treats everyone equally.

"I'm sorry that they made this people crazy to protest. It would be better if they went if they had some land to cultivate, to plant onions or something else, since it's a difficult and dark year ahead. I wouldn't like anyone to take this as an insult, but as benevolent advice, because I do it too," said Katnić.

The chief special prosecutor announced earlier that he would resign only if he did not meet expectations in the case of a trial for attempted election day terrorism.
