The Democratic People's Party initiated the signing of a citizens' petition in Danilovgrad, demanding that the municipal authorities abandon the decision to build a new city cemetery in the area of Velje polje in Bralenovica.
From that party, they demand that another, more suitable location be chosen for the new cemetery.
"The land on which the construction of the new cemetery is planned, according to all relevant indicators, belongs to the protective zone of the Oraška jama water source, from which most households in the municipality of Danilovgrad are supplied with water. The construction of a new cemetery in the planned location would therefore endanger the water source, and consequently This was indirectly confirmed by Prof. Mihailo Burić, a national water expert, who in his earlier study on Danilovgrad states, among other things, that the underground left tributaries of the river Sušica directly affect the quality of water in the Oraška jama water source. The planned location of the new cemetery is located near the river Sušica, on its left bank, which means that the water from the cemetery would flow through Sušica into the water source," said the president of the Danilovgrad DNP Committee, Dragan Bojović.
He pointed out that Professor Burić had revised his views in the meantime.
"As a relative of the mayor of the municipality Branislav Đuranović and his until recently long-term advisor (not only for water), and as until recently the president of the Board of Directors of Danilovgrad Vodovod, with substantial income and fees, Professor Burić recently began to have second thoughts and, so to speak, to doubt his former self , claiming that additional expertise must be done on this, supposedly complex issue. In the additional paid DPS expertise, it was pointed out that the water from the location in question does not flow into Sušica, but into a certain (kilometers away) Beg's Pit in Orja Luka!? it would be the same as if we asserted, for those who do not know the mentioned geographical toponyms, that the water from the plains does not flow into the rivers and further into the seas, but actually rises to the surrounding hills and mountains, defying the force of the earth's gravity!", he said. is Bojović.
He added that the citizens of Danilovgrad in recent days had the opportunity to see for themselves "how eyeless and senseless this latest expertise is".
"They watched with the naked eye how the water from the 'accumulation lake', which was literally created due to numerous rains at the planned location for the new cemetery, flowed irresistibly into the incoming Sušica river. Of course, the contamination of the Sušica river and the Oraška jama water source would not be prevented by filling and raising terrain in this area, as envisioned in the current project documentation of DPS 'experts'.
In addition to the fact that, if the cemetery is built on the site in question, drinking water in Danilovgrad would be directly threatened, the fact that this area is under water for a significant period of the year is reason enough not to build a cemetery here. Because such underwater and swampy land would in itself make it difficult to access tombs and graves, and there could also be a kind of desecration of the remains of citizens. Also, the construction of cemeteries in the plains, next to the rivers (near the river Sušica), not only potentially damages the environment, but is against the Montenegrin tradition according to which, out of respect for the deceased, cemeteries are built on raised, drained, illuminated and elevated places." , said Bojović.
He pointed out that the DNP and the Democratic Front, together with the rest of the Danilovgrad opposition, have pointed out all these reasons many times in good faith in the dialogue with the municipal authorities:
"Proposing other, suitable locations for a new cemetery (on Taraš hill, Šabov krug, etc.), but in vain. This long-standing problem of the municipality, the current DPS government decided to solve it in the most inadequate way, unnecessarily undertaking an extremely risky and dangerous a project that can threaten the citizens and the municipality of Danilovgrad multiple times and in the long term. Not to mention the significant financial damage that was caused to the municipal budget during the purchase of land for a new cemetery, which is why two municipal officials, who dutifully carried out the internal affairs of the local government, ended up in court The Democratic People's Party, as a member of the Democratic Front, expects great support from citizens for this petition, including those of our fellow citizens who do not share our party's beliefs and attitudes, because this is about protecting the common good of all the residents of Danilovgrad. We also expect that with our joint petition, efforts to stop the further implementation of this senseless and dangerous project, and that we will solve the problem of the new city cemetery in the municipality in an appropriate and high-quality way".
