The President of Democratic Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, said that he would never support the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and that he would only cooperate with a proven opposition.
At the second Congress of the Democrats, Bečić said that he would insist on an answer as to who is the opposition and who is working for the interests of the DPS.
He said that he will not cooperate with those who are suited to the role of the "eternal opposition" and who "instigate the opposition like a cowardly egg".
"I guarantee with my honor and personal integrity that I will never cooperate with the DPS, be in a coalition or form a parliamentary majority with the DPS. I will never deviate even by a millimeter from the ethical ideals of humanity and the principles of human relations towards the other and different... Oppositional aeration and distillation are yet to come," said Bečić after he was unanimously re-elected as president of the Democrats.
He pointed out that citizens do not support his party because of the envelope, office or privilege, but because they believe in the idea. He said that the greatest success of the Democrats was that they remained "a big family where there was never any corruption in its ranks".

"I invite the representatives of the Bosniak and Albanian parties, as well as members of the DPS who leave that party and have unblemished biographies - our doors are open to them from now on. We are the only party that has never been divided and that has not been cashed in by any councilor or deputy. We proved to be a cohesive factor because everyone wants to be with us," said Bečić.
At the congress, the Declaration "Yes to Montenegro, yes to Europe, yes to freedom" was adopted, in which, among other things, it is stated that Montenegro, as an independent and internationally recognized state, sovereignly shapes its own future according to its citizens and consistently respects all international legal obligations.
It is clarified that "Democrats will affirm the position that Europe and freedom have no alternative, as well as that they will not stop in the fight against organized crime and mafia groups".
Bečić said that he will continue to fight against captured institutions and work to eliminate all forms of corruption and crime. Bečič reiterated that everyone should live equally in Montenegro, regardless of nationality and religion.

The president of the Workers' Party (RP), Janko Vučinić, said that the opposition would be worse if there were no Democrats, stating that without Bečić's party, there would be no new government. He said that the opposition should cooperate in the fight against crime.
"It's better to go into battle with five who won't betray than with ten of whom three will fail at the first corner. That happened on the corner in Kotor, where SDP and Ranko Krivokapić betrayed and it turns out that that corner was too sharp and they couldn't make it you can rely on some people like the skin of a grandmother", said Vučinić and called on the Democrats to get over the insults for the sake of the unity of the opposition.
The president of the Democratic Serbian Party (DSS), Dragica Perović, said that the Democrats led the opposition front in Kotor, accusing the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of attempting to change the government in that city.
"It has been shown in the right way who is the opposition and who is just waiting to pay dearly for their councilor vote and make the election results meaningless. SDP and its like-minded people tried to illegally remove our mayor Vladimir Jokić in Kotor. In the end, it will turn out to be an "envelope" affair. a little kitty for the violent over-composition of the authorities in Kotor", said Perović.
The official of the United Montenegro, Goran Danilović, urged that on the way to opposition cooperation, "every force, even a small one," is needed. He said that quarrels should be avoided despite all political differences.
"Don't repeat the mistakes of us who had the best intentions, but maybe it was the wrong time and the wrong people. Politics is learned from mistakes, you have the privilege of not learning from yours. Learn from ours so that we can win together," Danilović said.
Emphasizing that a year ago he had no cooperation with Bečić, the President of Montenegro, Vladimir Pavićević, said that there is no such force that could shake the alliance with the Democrats.
Official of the Bosniak Party (BS) Suljo Mustafić said that we should work together to strengthen institutions and the rule of law, while the Vice President of the Parliament Genci Nimanbegu called for joint work on the reform of the electoral legislation.
URA movement official Seada Sadiković said that opposition cooperation was demonstrated through the "Za 21. vijek" coalition.
"The message we sent at that time is a pattern for victory that does not need to be reinvented. It just needs to be improved. I see the action of all sincere opposition structures, the civil sector and citizens in that direction," said Sadiković.
The leader of Demos, Miodrag Lekić, said that the unification of the opposition is necessary in order for Montenegro to become a country where the rules apply. Lekić said that the parties should cooperate as much as possible, stressing that this is what the citizens are asking for.
The president of the Party of Pensioners, Invalids and Restitution (PIR), Momo Joksimović, said that the authorities of that party unanimously decided to join the Democrats without any conditions.

Krapović, vice president, the session was broadcast live
After the congress, a constitutive session of the Main Board was held, where Dragan Krapović, Zdenka Popović, Momo Koprivica, Vladimir Martinović, Albin Ćeman were elected vice-presidents, while Boris Bogdanović was re-elected as general secretary of the Democrats.
The representative of the civil movement "Resist" Nikola Grdinić thanked the Democrats for the joint fight against the authorities. He said that young people are the biggest force that will bring changes to Montenegro.
"The fist that we have been raising as a sign of resistance for months now consists of our truth against their lies. Our justice against their injustice, courage against their cowardice, our wisdom against their stupidity and our smiles against their fake faces," Grdinić said.

The Congress was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps and the civil sector, and among the guests there were no representatives of the government, the SDP and the Democratic Front, while the government was represented by representatives of the Bosniak Party and the Albanian parties.
The congress, for the first time in Montenegro, was broadcast via social networks, while Bečić greeted all the guests by name, including the reporters who followed the congress.
