Director of the Center for Women's Rights Maja Raičević and Democratic Front MP Branka Bošnjak requested that the Parliamentary Committee for Gender Equality discuss the statements of the chief special prosecutor Milivoj Katnić, because they believe that two days ago he belittled women in the Parliament. "This incident only shows what kind of attitude the political powerful have towards the female gender, because they are honest when it comes out of their mouths lightly, and when they prepare - then their mouths are full of appreciation and respect for women and the fight for gender equality," said a Bosniak yesterday. "News".
During the discussion with DF MPs, Katnić said, among other things, that the Prosecutor's Office protected every citizen, including Front MP Nebojša Medojević "when they slapped him like a woman". He alluded to the incident when Medojević was slapped by Veselin Pejović ("Uniprom"), who was given a suspended sentence.
The president of the Committee for Gender Equality, Nada Drobnjak (DPS), did not answer yesterday whether she would schedule a session of that body, nor whether she was worried about the prosecutor's message. "I'm worried about the amount of denigration of women, and even more so that the president of the Board, who was present, did not speak," says Bošnjak. She reminds that Katnić tried to belittle her colleague Jovan Vučurović on the same basis.
"In Montenegro, a good woman is called a "man-woman", and I say that you are a "woman-man", GST said on Monday.
"Discriminatory statements by those whose duty it is to protect us from discrimination, such as that of Milivoj Katnić, combined with frequent violence against women in both private and public space and the fact that they usually pass without reaction from the competent authorities, are a reflection of deep-rooted misogyny that (too) often results in institutional discrimination against women and a lack of protection", says Maja Raičević for "Vijesti".
Raičević: I expect the reaction of the board, the Ministry, the ombudsman
Maja Raičević warns that GST's responsibility for statements is greater because he is the holder of one of the highest positions in the country.
"This also requires the obligation of competent institutions to determine whether he violated any of the legal provisions related to protection against discrimination based on gender.
Therefore, I expect the reaction of the parliamentary committees for gender equality and human rights and freedoms, which, among other things, have a control function and which should affirm and monitor the application of international acts and domestic regulations in the field of human rights and gender equality, as well as the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, which is obliged to affirm respect for the provisions of the Law on Gender Equality, but also as a protector of human rights and freedoms, to whom the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination gives a wide range of competences in terms of protection against discrimination, including discrimination based on gender," says the interlocutor.
