Today, the collegium of the Assembly did not take a final position regarding the refusal of the chief special prosecutor (SDT) Milivoje Katnić to submit a special report on the investigation of the "Envelope" affair to that working body, but it was stated that the Parliament should carry out a control function.

The collegium's statement was requested by the Anti-corruption Committee, because at the session, which was held on Monday, the members could not agree on whether Katnić was wrong when he refused to provide them with a special report on the "Envelope" affair, declaring that parliamentary working body incompetent.

Members of the Committee from the ruling coalition and the opposition demanded that Katnić come to the control hearing in September, as well as to submit a report on the investigation into the "Envelope" affair before that.

He refused, referring to Article 147 of the Law on the State Prosecutor's Office, according to which there is no obligation of the SDT to report to the competent working body of the Assembly about the work of the prosecution in specific cases "and especially not about the actions taken in their content".

The chief special prosecutor reminded that prosecutors are obliged to submit periodic reports on their work at the request of the Assembly and the Committee for the Political System.

According to the knowledge of "Vijesti", during their presentations at the Collegium, the representatives of the parliamentary clubs did not support Katnic's position, but expressed their determination that the Assembly should exercise a controlling role.

President of the Anti-corruption Committee, Predrag Bulatović, confirmed that a new session of the Anti-corruption Committee will be held tomorrow.

He said that yesterday they informed the President of the Assembly, Ivan Brajović, about the dilemmas they had regarding Katnić's letter and that he expects that the doubts will be clarified tomorrow.
