The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Duško Marković, and the delegation of the Congress of the United States of America (USA), led by the President of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Lindsay Graham, agreed that the Montenegrin-American partnership is important for the further democratic and economic development of Montenegro, and that it represents support for stability and the European perspective of the region, announced the Government.
"We further strengthened our partnership with the alliance in NATO, for which the support of the US Congress was key. We don't forget the support of the recently deceased Senator John McCain, who was by our side when we needed it the most," Marković said during a working lunch with the Congress delegation.
The Prime Minister informed the delegation about all aspects of democratic and economic development, which, as stated, Montenegro has been recording continuously, especially in recent years.
Marković, added in the Government announcement, thanked Washington for its constant support and understanding of Montenegro's priorities, saying that without that support, Montenegro would not be where it is today, and that our country especially appreciates cooperation and assistance in strengthening the rule of law and Montenegrin institution. "There can be no prosperity without strong and independent institutions," said the Prime Minister.
During the meeting, according to the Government, it was assessed that Montenegro, as a politically and economically stable society, is fully ready for the additional presence of American investments, especially in the fields of tourism, energy, infrastructure and agriculture.
