Councilors of the Municipal Assembly (SO) of Kolašin passed the Decision on accepting the candidacy for the organization of the Inter-Municipal Youth Sports Games (MOSI) in 2021. According to the president of SO Milan Đukić, who spoke, as he said, and as a long-time participant of that event, the benefits of the organization for Kolašin could be multiple. He also claims that the city has most of what is needed to readily welcome close to 2.500 participants, which are usually gathered by MOSI.
"Only an athletics track and a beach volleyball court are missing. We are one of the rare municipalities that has two sports halls and three basketball and football courts each. The DUP Sports Zone foresees the construction of new sports facilities, courts for small sports. We have the possibility that, when regarding the accommodation facilities, we are ready to welcome the participants", he argued for the initiative.
As he says, after the event, Kolašin would be left with a lot of good, among other things, an improved sports infrastructure and a significant benefit for sports clubs and the tourism industry.
Although the opposition councilors supported the initiative for Kolašin to host the sports event, they also had numerous objections when it came to the way the meeting was convened and the decisions were made.
Member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Bojan Zeković asked for precise clarifications about the amount of funds needed for the MOSI organization. This was not stated in the decision, and the act was not even passed by the economy committee, which Zeković also objected to. He also had doubts about certain wordings in that act, so he asked for that document to be established, as he said.
Zeković voted for the decision, stressing that it was a sign of support for the initiative. Due to numerous doubts in the explanation of the decision, his party colleague Željka Vuksanović abstained during the vote.
The session of the SO again without Democrats
Democratic councilors did not attend the session of the local parliament this time either. The reason for this, as they stated in the statement after the session of the Council of Ministers, was "the arrogance and ignorance of the ruling coalition". Although, as they state, they are happy with any initiative that affirms Kolašin, including the candidacy for the MOSI organization, they do not believe that the current government is up to the task.
"We are afraid that the current government, which is unable to patch holes in the city for the entire season, does not have the capacity to organize such a large event. Scheduling an extraordinary session, the convening of which does not state that it is extraordinary nor does it have any explanation for the reasons for the urgency, is a reflection of unprofessionalism , arrogance and attempts to make the local parliament a single-minded parliament that plays to the tunes of Milan Đukić," said councilor Zorana Bakić.
She complained, "because the session was scheduled without the collegium of the heads of the aldermen's clubs, and the collegium meeting was scheduled a few hours after the aldermen received the working material for the Assembly session."
