The DF is considering what to do with the Committee for Electoral Reforms

The leaders of the Democratic Front (DF) do not have a unified position on whether their representatives should return to the parliamentary Committee for Comprehensive Reforms of Electoral and Other Legislation, "Vijesti" has learned.

The political alliance has not yet made a final decision on a possible return, although it has been discussed informally. The interlocutor of "Vijesti" from DF claims that some of the officials believe that they should not return because that parliamentary body cannot implement electoral reforms. They believe that the opposition must continue to insist on the formation of a technical government, before starting to work on amending the law.

"A special problem is created by the fact that representatives of the ruling coalition have been working on laws in the meantime. Without the knowledge of the presidents of certain working groups, sessions were organized and the management of bodies headed by representatives of the opposition was illegally taken over. The Presidency of the DF will seriously consider the situation in the board before making a decision on a possible return", said the interlocutor of "Vijesti".

DF representatives left the Committee in November last year, after their MP Nebojša Medojević was arrested. In the meantime, other representatives of the opposition also left the Committee, making work on electoral reforms conditional on the prosecution of participants in the "Koverat" affair and the formation of a technical government. Although the representatives of the ruling coalition have been rejecting the request for the formation of a technical government since February, most of the members from the opposition have returned to the Board. These are representatives of the Democrats, Raško Konjević (SDP) and independent representative Neđeljko Rudović. The leaders of the DF then announced that they were "freezing participation".

The Front has three representatives, of which Strahinja Bulajić is the deputy president. There are also Predrag Bulatović and Branka Bošnjak, who were appointed presidents of two working groups. The President of the Committee, Branimir Gvozdenović, announced on Thursday that he will invite the DF to return, and the interlocutor of "Vijesti" from the ruling coalition said that they had already been invited in informal talks, but that we should expect an official one as well. Interlocutors from the Front claim that there was no informal communication, stating that the decision to return will be made by the leaders of that political alliance.

The Director of the Directorate for the Western Balkans of the European External Affairs Service (EEAS), Elsa Fenet, spoke yesterday with the members of the Board about the results so far, the Assembly announced. By November 15, the committee should determine proposals for changes to election laws

DPS: A stricter approach to the voter list

Data from the voter list will be able to be used exclusively on the basis of the Law on Protection of Personal Data or the approval of the person to whom they refer, provided for by the amendments to the Law on the Voter List prepared by the Working Group of the Committee for the Reform of Electoral Laws. The representative of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Danijel Živković said that these changes were proposed by the ruling coalition, the civil sector and the academic community, as part of joint work.
