The leader of Democratic Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić, announced last night that he is starting to fight for the first honest, fair and free elections from Budva.
The Budva Committee of Democratic Montenegro Budva held the second election convention last night, where a new convocation of the Municipal Committee with 75 members was chosen, which unanimously elected Mijomir Pejović as its president.
"Here we started the process of building the party infrastructure. Here we had the first initiative committee, a little later the municipal one, but, most importantly, here we achieved the first, historic victory, here we defeated an organized criminal group, here Đukanović drank the bitterest pill in his political career, here the robbery of Budva was stopped, this is where the recovery of Budva started and from here today we start the fight for the first honest, fair and free elections," said Belić in the crowded hall of the "Avala" hotel.
Bečić had a message for Đukanović, Marković and Mićunović.
"Here today, here, together with our partners, we are telling them: Remember Đukanović, remember Marković, remember Mićunović, today and forever: We can disagree with some individuals in the opposition, we can openly say what is bad and what should be corrected, but know that you can forget about Budva, Budva was taken over by the people, Budva is governed by the people and that people will never again allow the criminal paw to return to power, because whoever the people of Budva defeat, no one and nothing can put them back together. let alone return it!”
The President of the Democrats said that the victory in Budva and the manner of exercising power send far-reaching messages.
"First, we showed that there are no impossible missions. We have shown how sincere intentions, a heroic heart and a wise head can stop and then defeat envelopes, apartments, ID cards, blackmail, and headquarters in hotel rooms, and all their bloody and dirty millions. We showed that when we awaken the people, when we awaken spite, defiance and faith, any victory is possible. On the other hand, through the way of exercising power, we have proven that a change of government is not a danger, a threat or an earthquake, but a healing, renaissance and rebirth of both Budva and Montenegro. What is the formula? Very simple. There is no philosophy here. Honest people in management positions. People who work for a salary and nothing beyond a salary. People who don't take envelopes. People who do not fix tenders. People who do not allocate apartments and loans to themselves. You care about people. It depends on the people whether you win. It depends on the people how you manage and it depends on the people whether you win again. I am sure that the people in this hall are a guarantee that we will win even more convincingly again, that we will work even better and that OKG will never return!"
"They ask us what the formula is, the formula is very simple: real people, honest people, in decision-making positions. People who don't take envelopes, don't honor friends, don't grant themselves favorable housing loans... You care about people. "All the people in this hall are a guarantee that we will win even more convincingly and that OKG DPS will never return," he said.
Bečić also had a look at the political situation at the state level.
"The opposition has a historic chance. For the first time, he has the open support of the international community for comprehensive electoral reforms. For the first time, the international community supported an opposition plan. The other day, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland openly said in Podgorica, we support the elections to be held in one day. When was it before? Never. The only question is whether we are all honest, and whether we want real changes or whether someone wants a new political trade. We need more screws to get to the desired elections. We also need the elimination of phantom voters, phantom electoral lists, phantom signatures, squares, triangles, transparent ballots, dirty donations, and a hundred other solutions that we have prepared and insist on. So not just one screw, but several screws, so that insisting on only one screw, and his name was the Government, can lead us to a repeat of 2016 both in terms of time and content. That's why, come to your senses, colleagues, oppositionists", said Bečić.
The newly elected president of the Municipal Board of Demokrata Budva, Mijomir Pejović, said that being the president of OO Demokrata Budva is an invaluable privilege, but also an obligation.
Pejović said that in the future, the Democrats of Budva must show an even more energetic commitment to the program goals of the Democrats, and that the newly elected municipal board has the capacity to implement all tasks.
"There is no reason to doubt that we will succeed in the next four years as well. Our ideology is recognisable, it is the ideology of action, the ideology of determination and the ideology of efficiency. The appearance of the Democrats on the Budva scene was something different," concluded Pejović.
Krapović: Tsarević, don't forget whose votes you came to power with
Dragan Krapović, former president of the Budva Democrats, reminded that the Democrats held their first election convention in Budva four years ago, and that today Democratic Montenegro is the strongest opposition structure and the strongest party in power in Budva.
"There is a long road of trials behind us. Thank you for the sincere support that I received from you as the first among equals. Together with our partners, we made our Budva a better, more humane and sustainable place today," said Krapović.
"The biggest success," he added, "is the message that the dismissal of those who are recognized for the "Snimak", "Envelope", "Housing Loans" scandals, theft, is necessary in order for a municipality and a country to get better."
At the Convention, Krapović had a message for the President of the Municipality of Budva, Bata Carević: "With your behavior, you made it impossible for us to be together tonight, even though it would be natural." Never forget whose votes brought you to power. Appreciate this great political force, if not in terms of merit, then in terms of the degree of participation in government. Do not test our resolve because we will not budge even a millimeter".
Krapović also had a message for DPS, which he said was reduced to buying minor political points in Budva. "Just one message: Never again!", said Krapović and added that the people who were elected tonight are the guarantor that DPS will never exercise power in Budva again.
"This mandate must have been a catharsis. In the next mandate, Budva will be a tourist destination that develops according to plan. That is the promise of Aleksa Bečić and the Democrats".
The convention was also welcomed by Timur Tmurni, satirist and doctor, who said that all the worst that could gather in Montenegro gathered today in DPS.
"It is possible in Montenegro when you have a few free territories, like Kotor, Herceg Novi, Budva, Berane, and when you have a few free media."
Vladimir Pavićević, the president of Montenegro, said that many good messages can be sent about the Budva Democrats. "With his actions, in the previous mandate, Krapović showed both those who were there and those who came what it means to manage the public affairs of a community well." He praised the fact that the Democrats were "wise and patient to make a compromise and preserve power in Budva".
"I am proud that we are each other's number one partner in Montenegrin politics," concluded Pavićević.
The convention was welcomed by representatives of the SNP and Prava Montenegro, and guests from partner, opposition parties from the local level - URA, DNP, PzP and DSS - were also present.
