Democratic Montenegro announced today that the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, and the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), of which he is the head, subordinated all institutions to their officials and assigned them ownership.
"Instead of working according to the regulations, they use racketeering and obtaining financial benefits through direct criminal activities," according to the Democrats' statement.
From that party, they said that the evidence that confirms what all citizens know very well - that Montenegro is a country of corruption, crime and lawlessness is beginning to come out to the public intensively.
"A video that clearly shows construction inspectors Zoran Bošković and Vladan Juretić racketeering businessman Boško Nenezić, in order to enable him to continue building a building in Budva, despite the expired permit, represents the mirror of today's Montenegro. The concentration of power is not in the Constitution, laws and institutions, but in the hands of DPS officials and their henchmen, who rule according to rules based on the interests of individuals, not on the interests of citizens. Conscientious and professional behavior has been completely suppressed and ostracized, under the influence of the wishes of Milo Đukanović and the first families," the Democrats said.
Democratic Montenegro added that today it is clear to everyone that those who rooted corruption cannot eradicate it.
"For decades, a corruption system has been built, which has massively spawned and produced officials who act according to those rules, and not according to the letter of the law. Đukanović's system could not teach officials to work for a salary and to live honestly from their work, as experts, professionals and conscientious citizens. It was the DPS system that was an educator about corruption, crime, lawlessness and dishonor," the Democrats said.
They also stated that the latest video evidence represents a first-rate scandal and deviant behavior that fundamentally threatens the state.
"Of course, a sharp reaction from the competent authorities is needed, but if there were institutions in this country, this could not even happen. Finally, system changes are no longer just a matter of politics, but a matter of the need and survival of this country and its European future. A logical continuation of this film in any functioning country would be the irrevocable resignation of the Minister of MORT, but in Montenegro it is predictable that we will not watch such a film. Here, responsibility from the highest authorities in the country has long ceased to be expected. And the data that was discussed in the show "The fact that criminal charges were filed against people who asked for bribes eight months ago, and that nothing was done speaks quite eloquently about the collapse of the institutions of the system in our country," reads the statement of Democratic Montenegro.
Democratic Montenegro points out that in several cases it itself had the opportunity to witness the cover-up of wild construction on the coast.
"Democrat functionary, Mijomir Pejović, filed a criminal complaint against illegal construction on the Jaz twice, in April and October of this year, but, despite this, the construction on the Jaz continued. So, as far as the Democrats are concerned, the video that talks about corruption in MORT, is not something that should shock or surprise anyone. It is just another confirmation that we live in a state deeply steeped in corruption and crime," the Democrats' statement concluded.
