Israel's return to the illegal and criminal practice of arbitrary assassinations and conscious disinterest in the life or death of Palestinian civilians is reckless and criminal, Hanan Ashrawi, a member of the executive board of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), said today, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Montenegro announced.
She added that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, is exploiting the culture of impunity to commit crimes and provoke a dangerous escalation for petty personal and political gain.
"On orders from the highest political circles, the Israeli military launched an attack on the Palestinian people providing cover for the cold-blooded arbitrary killing of civilians in Hebron on Monday, followed by the ordered liquidation of two high-ranking officials in Gaza and Damascus (Syria), bombing their homes and targeting their families. This pre-planned escalation has caused chaos in the Gaza Strip, where life has come to a brutal halt, and where the entire captive population is powerless to defend itself against Israeli bombardment, which has included the direct targeting and demolition of the offices of the Independent Commission for Human Rights rights. These acts constitute war crimes for which Israel must be held accountable," Ashrawi said
The Embassy of Palestine said that at this moment 18 victims are known to have been killed by the latest airstrikes by the Israeli army.
