The informal document of the European Union on the state of the rule of law, the so-called "non paper", which is being adopted in Brussels these days, shows that Montenegro is blocked in the process of EU integration solely due to the lack of internal political will, and not for any other reasons. said the general secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Ivan Vujović.
"There are no results, and even after six years since the start of negotiations in these areas, Montenegro still does not have the final benchmarks, which indicates that we are not even halfway when it comes to the negotiations in chapters 23 and 24. And that is why they are working more than faint cries from the top of the government accusing someone else, that is, the European Union, of their own deficit of results," Vujović said.
That, as he said, "the alibi game is more than transparent", and, he adds, the "non-paper" of the European Union, which targets key areas where Montenegro is "clearly stagnating or even regressing", is what it says.
"From the state of the judiciary, the Judicial Council, third mandates, which has become a rule in Montenegro since the candidacy for the president of the country, the activities of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, various government policies that affect the independence of the judiciary, to ineffective financial investigations and the total absence of results in the fight against corruption and organized crime. And, of course, a special place is again occupied by the operation of the party's takeover of the Public Service, as, after all, the highest addresses of the EU, the USA and numerous international organizations have repeatedly assessed. With such so-called results and the absence of political will for reforms, it's no wonder that this government has blocked negotiations with the EU," concluded Vujović.
