Russia supports the policy of the Democratic Front, which is focused on the values of traditional Montenegro and the preservation of brotherly and friendly relations between Montenegro, Serbia and Russia, as well as between the Serbian and Russian peoples.
This was announced after a meeting of Democratic Front MPs Jovan Vučurović and Milun Zogović, with the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Foreign Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Natalija Poklonska, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Crimea and Permanent Representative of the President of Russia in Crimea Georgi Muradov and Senator, member of the Federation Council for International Affairs. questions by Sergey Pavlovich Chekov.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the International Conference "Belgrade Dialogue: for constructive relations with Russia and recognition of the will of the people of Crimea".
"Russia strongly condemns the political persecution and torture of the Montenegrin regime against the Serbian people and the SPC in Montenegro, as well as against the Democratic Front, which is unprecedented in the recent history of Europe, as well as the staged court proceedings against the Democratic Front. It also condemns the persecution of free media and journalists," the DF press release states.
It is added that throughout history, Montenegro has never had a closer and more loyal ally than Russia and Serbia.
"And that alliance had a significant impact on the creation and survival of Montenegro as a country throughout the centuries. The attempt to impose an anti-Russian and anti-Serbian mood in Montenegro by force is doomed from the start, because it is unnatural, immoral and contrary to the fundamental values of Montenegro. In the DF, they believe that Montenegro should cooperate with both the East and the West, "but it must also know who is closest to it and with whom it shared good and evil throughout the ages".
"Despite strong pressure and subversion by the regime in Montenegro, the DF will not falter in the fight for a free Montenegro and its traditional values. It is also obvious that the relations between the Serbian and Russian people are on an upward trajectory, as evidenced by the regular meetings between the presidents of Russia and of Serbia, Vladimir Putin and Aleksandar Vučić. DF received an invitation to visit the Russian Federation, Moscow and Crimea, with the aim of further strengthening the comprehensive cooperation between Montenegro and Russia," the DF statement concluded.
