The administrative board decided today to announce a competition for the election of a new president of the State Election Commission (SEC).
The President of the Board, Luiđ Škrelja, said that he expects that by March, Montenegro will receive the full composition of the SEC.
"We are just in time to get the president of the SEC in a timely manner. Until the elections are announced in Tivat, although the current commission is also in full composition and capacity," Škrelja said.
He said that the competition will be published in the daily newspaper "Dan" and on the website of the Assembly.
Board members from DPS voted for the decision. SDP MP Raško Konjević was restrained.
Konjević had objections to the "creative interpretations" according to which the current president of the SEC, Đorđije Vukčević, holds this position until his dismissal.
"Only here, according to some interpretation, someone works until we fire him, even though by force of law he is retired.
This kind of interpretation and this kind of logic devastates institutions, because someone, for example, resigns from the Main Board of DPS today and tomorrow applies for a competition for the RTCG Council," said Konjević and added that Vukčević was also a member of the Main Board of DPS.
Law graduates with at least ten years of experience can apply for the position of SEC president. Candidates cannot be members of political parties.
