Political parties are ready in principle to help the oldest population in Montenegro, which is currently the most threatened due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Some of them help financially, and some also through party volunteers who will visit elderly citizens and bring them food and medicine.
As they informed "Vijesti", the civil movement URA is already in communication with a certain group of volunteers and humanitarians, to whom they offered the help of young activists in visiting the elderly and infirm in the field and modest material assistance.
"In the coming period, we will propose to the Government measures aimed at helping the elderly and the infirm in this situation," announced the URA GP.
They point out that in crisis situations, like this one, it is the duty of all responsible entities in society to help citizens in every possible way, especially the most vulnerable group - the elderly and the infirm.
"For this reason, many of our actions now, and in the future, will be directed towards ensuring the conditions for this group of our compatriots to endure this scourge as painlessly as possible. We participate without reservation, we will participate and we will be there to help those who need help the most now", it was announced from that movement.
From the two largest political parties, the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the Democratic Front (DF), as well as from the Social Democrats (SD) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), "Vijesti" did not receive an answer as to whether they are ready to help the oldest population and in what way.
The spokesperson of the Bosniak Party (BS), Adel Omeragić, said that the current situation mostly affects older citizens, and that in this sense, the young people of the Bosniak Party especially want to help.
"Their help is reflected in calling and visiting elderly citizens, especially those who live alone. Food and medicine are delivered to those who need it through the BS Youth Forum", said Omeragić.
He pointed out that they welcome the decision of the Government and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare to give pensioners with the lowest pension, as well as beneficiaries of material security, one-time assistance of 50 euros each.
Omeragić reminded that the Bosniak Party donated 10.000 euros to the National Coordinating Body for Infectious Diseases for the fight against the coronavirus and called on all BS officials to donate funds as much as possible, and all citizens to respect the recommendations of the Institute for Public Health.
"We welcome the efforts made by the Government of Montenegro, as well as the National Coordinating Body for Infectious Diseases, in order to protect the health of our citizens. The Bosniak party is ready to work in cooperation with all relevant institutions to overcome the current situation".
It was announced from Democratic Montenegro that they are immediately ready to implement "everything determined by the profession, which is in accordance with the recommendations, conclusions and orders of the competent state institutions".
"In the moments when Montenegro and the world are faced with such a scourge, political subjects, organizations and state authorities should do everything in their power so that health institutions successfully implement prevention and remediation plans due to the spread of this virus."
The spokesperson of the Liberal Party (LP), Ammar Borančić, said that they are ready to help the citizens who are most affected by the epidemic of the COVID 19 virus.
"We have always helped endangered and emergency cases and in regular circumstances, so that will not be missing this time either. According to our capacities and possibilities due to the duration of emergency measures in the country, we will help in the way that will be most useful for vulnerable persons at a given moment", said Borančić.
Demos also expressed their absolute readiness to, "in accordance with the specific circumstances in which our country finds itself, and taking into account the recommendations of the authorities in charge of public health", help the citizens of an older age.
"Taking into account the fact that this is a part of the population that is at greatest risk due to the emergence of the corona virus, we use the opportunity to call on all social actors and citizens to treat the complex situation in which this part of the population finds itself with special attention and understanding".
They state that in the coming period, Demos will continue to strive to, in accordance with its possibilities, provide material aid to the most vulnerable, but also participate in actions to help elderly fellow citizens for whom the need arises.
The Socialist People's Party (SNP) points out that the oldest population must be the subject of special concern of the whole society at this moment and that they are ready to provide full contribution in these efforts.
"We are particularly pleased to point out that our proposal to provide one-time financial assistance to pensioners with the lowest incomes has been accepted. We have also proposed other concrete measures in order to make the position of other vulnerable categories of the population easier in these difficult times".
They state that, like all other parties and other segments of society, especially professional services, they will be up to the task, ready to come to the aid of older people.
"Of course, in doing so, one should take into account all the measures and rules of conduct prescribed by the state, the goal of which is to reduce the scale of the epidemic to the smallest possible extent."
The Workers' Party announced that it will follow all the recommendations of the Institute for Public Health as well as the measures adopted by the Government and, in accordance with those instructions, organize manpower and resources and put them at the service of the people and the state.
"We are hereby calling on all socially responsible companies operating in the territory of Montenegro to donate certain funds in accordance with their capabilities, which would be a great contribution to the health system at this time. We also invite local self-governments to organize volunteers who would help elderly fellow citizens in procuring basic necessities and medicines".
Emphasizing that such situations erase all differences and do not tolerate division on any basis, the Workers' Party notes that better cooperation and assistance should be achieved without promotion, capturing petty political points and populism.
"All volunteers who would be involved in these activities should be provided with appropriate protective equipment by the state. A great responsibility rests with the citizens themselves, whose solidarity, unity and compliance with all prescribed measures will help in suppressing this epidemic".
