Serbia is ready to support every effort of the Municipality of Nikšić with the aim of economic and cultural development of both countries, said the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Montenegro Dr. Vladimir Božović, who was on a working visit to the Municipality of Nikšić today. President Veselin Grbović spoke with him, and businessman Ranko Jovović, deputy president of the Serbian-Montenegrin-Business Club, also attended the meeting.
"The city of Nikšić is the second one in Montenegro that I have officially visited, besides the municipality of Plužine, and which is extremely important for the Republic of Serbia in terms of the interests of the citizens of both countries. Nikšić is the territorially largest municipality in Montenegro and in the former Yugoslavia and the second largest in Montenegro. "The second, no less important reason is that I come from this city, which is the foundation of the culture of Montenegro. There is almost no area where the people of Nikšća have not made a significant contribution and great names, regardless of whether it is about culture or socio-political life." , Božović said, according to the press release.
According to the announcement, the meeting discussed economic cooperation, the situation caused by the corona virus, as well as the success of Montenegro and Serbia in the fight against this disease.
"It was emphasized that this was a good moment to learn lessons and draw guidelines for further functioning. The need for cooperation in the process of European integration was also emphasized," the announcement reads.
Božović, as stated in the announcement, emphasized that cooperation with sister cities of Nikšić Municipality: Vrbas, Valjevo and Arilje should be of particular importance in achieving certain goals. He expressed his readiness to organize a donor evening for the people of Nikšić living in Belgrade, and the collected funds would be used for the realization of a project on which they would agree. Cooperation between the "Nikšić Theater" and the "National Theater" from Belgrade was initiated, as well as the donation of a certain amount of funds to the Public Institution "Day Center for Children with Disabilities and People with Disabilities".
"President Grbović pointed out that it is in the interest of both countries to overcome any possible disagreements, as well as the indisputable right of both Serbia and Montenegro to independently make decisions in the interest of the state and citizens. Ranko Jovović pointed out that a large number of tourists from Serbia visit Montenegro during the season "They are burning and that after the opening of the borders it will be the same this season as well.
