The leader of the Democratic Front (DF), Andija Mandić, announced today in parliament that independent teams of researchers and independent media in Montenegro have identified Danilo Vučić, the son of the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, as the "alleged founder of some kind of criminal clan".
Mandić announced this during the debate in parliament on the Proposal to amend the Law on Income Tax, and he alluded to the text that "Vijesti" also published on the occasion of the war of the Kotor clans.
"Do you think I like it when I see the texts, what independent teams of researchers do and media in Montenegro report that there is no crime in this area and that Montenegro has nothing to do with it and the names of key criminals from Montenegro are not mentioned, but it is mentioned some child, the son of Aleksandar Vučić. He is allegedly the founder of some criminal clan, and he and his family are being targeted. Do you think it's true? You all know it's a lie as well as I do and that it has nothing to do with it," Mandic said.
Mandić's statement does not correspond to the factual situation because Danilo Vučić is not mentioned anywhere in the published text as the founder of the criminal clan.
"Vijesti" and "Dan" published a research conducted by KRIK journalists together with colleagues from the Montenegrin Network for the Affirmation of the Non-Governmental Sector (MANS) and the international journalist organization Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and where they investigated the mafia war in detail between the two feuding criminal clans of Kavački and Škaljarski. During the research, the journalists collected documentation from the police, prosecutor's offices, courts, security agency and talked to people who are familiar with the Balkan criminal scene.
Among these documents are photographs of the son of the President of Serbia, who was photographed with Aleksandar Vidojević, who was labeled as a member of the "Janjičari" hooligan group. That group is close to the Kavac criminal clan
In the text it is written that Vučić's son is friends with Vidojević.
"The closeness of Vidojević and Danilo Vučić speaks of their joint photos taken at different events and in different time periods. So, in 2018, they cheered together at the World Cup in Russia, at the match that the Serbian national team played against Costa Rica." In January of this year, they were photographed in Banja Luka, at the Republika Srpska Day celebration. KRIK/OCCRP journalists came into possession of another, so far unpublished photo, in which Vučić hugs Vidojević in a night club. It is not known when it was created," the text reads.
