The President of the Committee for International Relations and Emigrants Andrija Nikolić sent a congratulatory message to the head of the EU Delegation in Montenegro, Ambassador Aiva Orav and the ambassadors of the EU countries in Montenegro on the occasion of Europe Day.
"At the moment when our continent is fighting against the global pandemic caused by the corona virus, which threatens our lives and economic development, we welcome one of the most significant dates in the history of Europe. In the jubilee year, when we proudly celebrate 75 years since the victory over fascism and 70 years since Schuman's declaration, we recall the era in which the European Union opened the process of reconciliation and unification on the European continent, providing rights and prosperity to the citizens of all its members," the statement said.
As he said, "proud of its glorious anti-fascist history, Montenegro today once again confirms its commitment to European values and its unwavering desire to improve the quality of life of every citizen".
"We are encouraged by the messages of support for the European perspective of our region, sent from the recently held EU Summit - Western Balkans, as well as the quick reaction of the European Union, in the form of strong financial support to the region, due to more effective coping with the consequences caused by the corona virus pandemic.
In the hope that with joint efforts we will successfully overcome the current global crisis, and that we will continue to strengthen the idea of a Europe united in diversity, taught by the terrible consequences of the ideology of fascism, please accept the expressions of my deepest respect and warm greetings," the statement concluded.
