The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, assessed today that some politicians in the region are creating tensions between countries and peoples only to "cover up that they are not running as fast as Serbia". In a guest appearance on TV Hepa, Brnabić said that Serbia has "arrived and overtaken" some countries in economic areas, that the disagreements between the official Podgorica and Belgrade are a consequence of that, and she noted that 28 percent of the population of Montenegro are Serbs.
"We have to deal with the issues of Serbs wherever they live, we have a constitutional obligation, and we will not apologize for that," said Brnabić and added that other countries also deal with the rights of their nation outside the borders of their own country.
She assessed that Serbia built a strategic partnership with Hungary precisely on the basis of cooperation between Belgrade and Budapest on the rights of national minorities.
Brnabić added that the arrest of Bishop Joaniki in Montenegro was a political act, which should not have happened, with the assessment that according to religious sentiments "you have to be especially careful not to cause conflicts". On the other hand, Brnabić said that they do not understand the need to create a new church community in the 21st century.
"Nobody wants that in the 21st century, unless it's (actor) Tom Cruise," Brnabić said.
