The best way for the reformist forces to triumph in the presidential elections would be to repeat the formula from 2013, when the common candidate of the opposition was a non-party figure of indisputable integrity with experience in state administration, in the case of Miodrag Lekić - ministerial, assessed Professor Đorđije Blažić.
"It would be regrettable if the principle of party employment were to be transferred from the local level to the level of the head of state, because what are presidential elections, and a competition where citizens are employers?" asked Blažić.
He told the MINA agency that the head of state should be the one who, among the existing candidates, can best fulfill the duties of the president of the republic, protect citizens from the arbitrariness of the government and bring about authentic changes at all levels.
As he stated, there is no doubt that an a priori refusal to discuss the joint performance of the opposition would not be in the interest of those changes.
"I believe that in the end, wisdom will prevail, and that all the actors of the opposition scene will recognize the seriousness of the moment. It is time to finally start with real and fundamental changes," said Blažić.
He is of the opinion that with the opposition agreement it is possible to deliver two strong blows to the ruling structure in a short time, from which it would not be able to recover.
"The battle for a free and legal state is being fought this spring. If we miss this opportunity, we will have to wait a very long time for the next one," concluded Blažić.
