The primary goal of Montenegrin foreign policy remains joining the community of the most developed European democracies, to which Montenegro is fully committed, it was assessed in the conversation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Srđan Darmanović with the head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU), Ambassador Aiva Orava.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Darmanović met with Orava today on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in Montenegro.
Darmanović acknowledged Orav for his successful mandate in Montenegro, and expressed his satisfaction with the meaningful and efficient cooperation that was achieved during the previous period.
As stated in the announcement, he thanked for all the activities of the EU Delegation in Podgorica that contributed to the progress on the path of European integration of Montenegro, which resulted in the completion of an important phase of that process - the opening of all negotiation chapters.
Darmanović said that in the coming period, Montenegro will work even more intensively and dynamically on closing the negotiation chapters.
"In order to make large, decisive steps in the shortest possible period towards achieving the central tasks of our foreign policy - full membership in the EU and the comprehensive democratic development of our society," added Darmanović.
Orav pointed out that it was a distinct pleasure for him to stay in Montenegro during the previous years and follow the development of internal political and social processes, and to be part of the Montenegrin path towards EU membership.
"He especially welcomed the high degree of alignment of Montenegro's foreign policy with EU positions, which, as he stated, was recognized and highly appreciated in Brussels," the statement said.
Orav added that he hopes that the Montenegrin state and society will continue to progress in all areas, with the goal of better socio-economic status of all its citizens.
