Nuhodžić thanked the emigrants for their patriotism

Diaspora Days are a true celebration of togetherness and a multicultural festival, Minister of Internal Affairs Mevludin Nhodžić said at the "Diaspora Days" event, which was held today in Petnjica.

"It's a nice feeling when those closest to you meet - for good, with good intentions and will. That's the strength of the people here. The tradition you created is an encouragement to the generations to come, who, I'm sure, will have the same emotion when it comes to their their homeland, about the country they come from. And it's up to us to create opportunities for broad connections, to develop cultural peculiarities, to improve economic activities, to be a partner in the development of business and other ideas," he said.

As it was reported, he said that the Bihor region has produced wise and hardworking people since ancient times.

"We testify that it is the same today, almost without exception. Your example is a strong pledge of a multi-ethnic and civil Montenegro that we strive for and that we are creating day by day. Here, in the heart of Bihor, people are related to the idea of ​​a civil and open, multi-ethnic society. You brought such feelings from this proud environment. You have woven such a character into the places abroad where you live and create an existence for your family. You are always there to help a person from your area, both known and unknown. Montenegro, sovereign and European, remembers and appreciates that. Your patriotic act, of each of you individually, of your families and of this entire region scattered across Europe and the world - is an act that we respect and value as a true example of the relationship to the homeland. And this meeting is an opportunity to sincerely thank you for that. Such attitude of yours gave us an incentive to improve living conditions in Bihor and in the entire region", said Nuhodžić, according to the announcement.

As reported, he emphasized that the state, through its support programs, will responsibly and willingly stand by every project that contributes to the development of the Bihor region: "We will treat those initiatives in a friendly manner and with concrete help and understanding." In the continuation of his address, he added that the Government of Montenegro is improving the infrastructure and working to connect it with other parts of the country: "Finally, the opening of the first section of the highway will bring us all closer to each other. For all the people of the north of Montenegro, it will be more of a possibility".

"Nuhodžić, as reported, pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the entire planet, reminded us that we must return to our own, that we must appreciate our space and our nature more. "If we do not create ourselves, we cannot expect profit from the other. If we do not commit ourselves to the values ​​we have, we have no progress. We learned another important lesson from the newly created situation. That Montenegro has people, capable and educated, ready to tackle all problems - from health to economic. Among among those personnel, there are plenty of those who come from Bihor, proven in numerous fields of activity. Montenegro is counting on such people in the period of future construction. There is no development of Montenegrin society without hard-working individuals from this region, devoted to their only state house," Nuhodžić announced.

"You are leaving to come back to us. So that both would be better and more useful to the community. Your examples are bright, as is our European future with you. We continue to work together on further reconstruction of the north and the country, with the expectation that the day will soon come when our Montenegro will formally be a part of Europe, from which you bring us your unsurpassed energy, solidarity and humanity. I want us to celebrate Diaspora Days for a long time in the way that befits the people of this region - dignified, harmonious and with strong messages of preserving and affirming the multi-ethnic nature of Montenegro," said Minister of the Interior Mevludin Nuhodžić, the statement concluded.
