The rector of the Cetinje seminary, Gojko Perović, said that the picture, published on a portal and social networks, in which he is with professor Miodrag Perović and URA leader Dritan Abazović, was taken last spring, and not yesterday as it was shown.
In a statement submitted to "Vijesti", Perović said that he is always happy to talk to everyone, and that his last meeting with politicians took place in the building of the Government of Montenegro.
The rector of the Cetinje seminary said that the Church left the politicians to run the election campaign alone.
"Since ancient times, until today, the square of a city and the noon of a white day are a legitimate and desirable space for people to meet and talk. Both friends and like-minded people, and those who build coexistence in mutual differences. I am happy to live in a country where a person has the opportunity to meet and talk with smart and educated people. As a citizen and as a priest, I not only have the right, but also the obligation to talk publicly (so that everyone can see me) both with believers and those who are not. However, I am not happy that I live in a time when journalism is called producing lies and stalking people. Yesterday, a picture of my meeting with Mr. Abazović and Prof. Perović circulated on social networks, placed by a quasi-journalist as if it was about my participation in someone's pre-election campaign. Our photographed meeting, which I consider an honor and a privilege, happened in the spring, in full view of everyone, and the elections were not a topic at that time neither for us nor for the public. So what we talked about - only God knows! The Church left the politicians to they are running the election campaign themselves, since it certainly does not belong to her, but it seems that the spy services do not leave the Church alone even in this time, but they show pictures from the past as if they were yesterday. As far as this pop is concerned, I'm always happy to talk to everyone. Let's say, my last meeting with politicians took place in the Government of Montenegro building with representatives of the current government, when we stated for the umpteenth time that this ruling set does not understand the position of the Church in the state, nor does it want to build a secular society - guaranteed by the Constitution and international standards in vain and recommendations," said Perović.
