The holder of the Kotor election list "Dr. Branko Baćo Ivanović - Socialists", Branko Baćo Ivanović, said that it is unacceptable that in the 21st century we have water restrictions in Kotor, "while we present ourselves as an elite tourist destination."
"That's why solving the problem of water supply must be a priority. It is unacceptable that the current government complains about the losses in the network and justifies them, instead of finally solving this problem. Instead of uncontrolled spending of money for various "advertising" projects that are now gaping empty while our taps are at the same time dry, it was necessary to start a complete reconstruction of the water supply system," said Ivanovic.
He says that one cannot talk about losses of 84 percent as a justification for water restrictions in Kotor.
"So many losses that have not been resolved today are the reason why no one ever votes for the DPS-SDP-SD government, which is to blame. As the president of the Municipality of Kotor, I once resolved the issue of water supply for Muo, Prčanj and Stoliv by building an underwater pipeline. I guess it's easier today to replace dilapidated water pipes on land, than it was for me to install an underwater pipeline more than 20 years ago. I see that it is more popular for those who prefer to take pictures, than to do something for the citizens, to cut ribbons in visible places, than to invest into the infrastructure that is underground. But everything comes at a cost. Just as citizens have dry taps, so the sources of votes will dry up for those who are guilty of it."
He adds that superficial and low-quality maintenance of local roads is unacceptable, as well as their reconstruction just before the elections.
"We will maintain them constantly and indiscriminately. Also, the people of Kotor these days are struggling with an enormously high amount of real estate taxes, which is an additional burden this year when family budgets have been significantly reduced due to the bad tourist season, as a result of the pandemic. That is why the Socialists will propose a new decision that will regulate the method of calculating taxes in a different way and reduce the amount of taxes. We keep our word. That's why the citizens have confidence in us, and that will be shown on August 30," Ivanović concluded.
