The leader of Montenegro, Anđela Ivanović, congratulated everyone who achieved a good election result and called for the preservation of multi-ethnic and multicultural harmony.
"Given that the previous government ruled for almost 30 years, the change that is coming is probably what is necessary for Montenegrin society to grow and develop according to the examples of modern European countries. The election day passed in a peaceful and correct atmosphere. We congratulate everyone who achieved a good election result. We expect an expert government that will adopt and change primarily the electoral legislation and then fully examine all system irregularities that have accumulated in the previous period. We hope that this will not be a fraud on the Montenegrin citizens by nationalist and decadent structures, which are led by the interests of foreign countries and can lead Montenegrin society in a direction contrary to the will of the majority," she said,
She said that she expects the new government not to allow provocations and bigotry and to prevent and punish all attacks and aggression against those who think differently.
"Highlighting the flags of other countries is unacceptable, and leads to further and deeper divisions of Montenegrin society. In the new majority, only Mr. Dritan Abazović can be the defender of the current multi-ethnic and multicultural harmony for which Montenegrin society is known. And we, like him, due to the great desire for changes, gave support to nationalist parties at the local level, and we know what kind of cooperation there is with them. We do not want him or his associates to experience a tent or similar situations at the moment when they do not agree on the conduct of politics, so they become , traitors and collaborators of the former government". I am afraid of his fate, because in the meantime they would succeed in achieving their nationalist Serbian goals, and that would be disastrous for Montenegro," concluded Ivanovic.
