The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said today that he never had business arrangements with the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, as Zdravko Krivokapić, the mandate holder for the composition of the new Montenegrin government, allegedly claimed.
Vučić asked Krivokapić to inform the public "as soon as possible" about all the elements of alleged cooperation with Djukanović in "business variants".
"I am sure that he will bring evidence or say that he lied. Since there is no such evidence, he will have to admit that he told untruths, although that is not the only untruth. Many untruths about Serbia's role in Montenegro were also stated by Đukanović before that," he said. Vučić answering questions from journalists after visiting the Center for Basic Police Training in Belgrade.
Commenting on allegations that he cooperated with Đukanović on the Belgrade on Water project, Vučić said that he "never exchanged a single word" on that topic with the Montenegrin president.
"Milo (Đukanović), who knows Belgrade well, hardly knows where Belgrade is on the water. For me, the funniest thing is that in the previous 15 to 20 days, Milo accuses me of bringing him down, his opponents of helping him, and today they found the platitude that I wanted to weaken Đukanović, but not exactly overthrow him. You could see such contradictions in the same newspapers and hear them from the same people," said the President of Serbia.
In response to allegations of Serbia's interference in the internal affairs of Montenegro, Vučić said that both that and other countries in the region interfered much more in the internal affairs of Serbia, especially with the recognition of Kosovo's independence.
"Serbia just wants to show concern for its people, that is completely legitimate and in accordance with European conventions. We have a legitimate right to fight for the realization of collective and all other rights of Serbs in Montenegro," said Vučić.
Speaking about the leaders of the new government in Montenegro, Vučić said that he did not know Krivokapić, Driton Abazović or Aleksa Bečić, but added that Andrija Mandić and Milan Knežević were important to him as representatives of the Serbs in that country.
He added that he believes that relations with Montenegro will be normal because, as he said, Serbia has no one closer.
"The fact that they all want to show how far they are from Serbia, that they are not Belgrade branches, we have no problem with that. We will wait and always be ready to wait for our brothers for better cooperation. All the doors of Serbia will be open for our brothers from of Montenegro", said Vučić.
