The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Srđan Darmanović, today received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) in Montenegro, Karen Maddox, during which he expressed his satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
As stated in the announcement, Darmanović welcomed the ambassador and wished her a successful mandate, with the belief that there is considerable room for further improvement of relations between the two countries.
He pointed out the importance of strengthening alliances within the NATO alliance.
"Ambassador Maddox thanked Minister Darmanović for his hospitality, agreeing that the two countries achieve high-quality and substantial cooperation, and expressed the hope that her engagement in Montenegro will contribute to the further improvement of overall bilateral relations. Along these lines, she welcomed the successes and achievements of our country on her European and Euro-Atlantic path, with the belief that this is an indicator of the democratic character and being of Montenegro. Having introduced the minister to the key topics of importance for her mandate, she particularly emphasized that "strengthening cooperation with Montenegro is extremely important". The interlocutors assessed that there is additional space for improving cooperation between Montenegro and the UK in the fight against the pandemic, as well as in the fields of economy, investments, science and sustainable development," the Ministry's announcement reads.
During today's farewell visit of Romanian Ambassador Ferdinand Nađi, Darmanović thanked for "a dedicated seven-year mandate during which he left an exceptional mark in terms of improving Montenegrin-Romanian relations in numerous areas", the Ministry said.
"He praised his commitment through the role of the doyen of the diplomatic corps and especially thanked Romania for its continuous assistance, both political and expert, to our European path, as well as for its clear support for the policy of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans," the statement said.
As they said, Ambassador Nađi pointed out that it was an honor for him to perform the duties of ambassador and pointed to the good cooperation inherited by our two countries, referring to the importance of intensive political dialogue at all levels.
"He welcomed the excellent cooperation within NATO and expressed his belief that we will soon be partners in the EU as well. In this context, Romania will continue to advocate for the European future of Montenegro and the Western Balkan region as soon as possible - stressed Ambassador Nađi. Interlocutors "exchanged opinions on the current political developments in Montenegro. It was mutually agreed that continuity and consistency in fulfilling assumed foreign-political obligations and priorities is key for Montenegro," concludes the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
