Romania's experiences from the pre-accession period proved to be very useful and applicable in the process of Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro, said Defense Minister Predrag Boškovič at a meeting with the outgoing Romanian ambassador to Montenegro, Ferdinand Nađi. This, as he said, contributed to the faster fulfillment of obligations from our integration agenda with the aim of receiving an invitation for membership in NATO.
As announced after the meeting, Bošković expressed his satisfaction with the contentious defense cooperation that the two countries have achieved in the past period and emphasized the importance of the support that Romania continuously provides to the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro.
He pointed out that precisely during the seven-year mandate of Ambassador Naji through the role of doyen of the diplomatic corps, this was achieved.
Bošković emphasized the fact that Montenegro, as a full NATO member, actively contributes to the establishment of stability in the Western Balkans and makes concrete contributions to the collective security system.
Pointing to the strong commitment of the Ministry of Defense to constant and high-quality modernization of the armed forces, Bošković expressed his satisfaction that in the last four years an enviable level of interoperability of the Army of Montenegro has been achieved. He welcomed Romania's willingness to continue providing support for fulfilling the conditions for full membership in the EU, both political and expert, as well as clear support for the policy of EU enlargement to the Western Balkans.
Nađi highlighted Montenegro's membership in NATO, as a confirmation of the great progress of our country and the successfully implemented reforms in the defense sector and other relevant areas.
Nađi expressed his belief that bilateral defense cooperation will continue to deepen with the established dynamics, and confirmed Romania's intention to be a strong partner to Montenegro in the future, especially in the field of European integration.
