The President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, presided over the sixth session of the third convocation of the Senate of the Capital Cetinje, where the Development Program of the Capital for 2021 was adopted.
Đukanović stated that after a few years of application of the Law on the Capital City, the local administration found the right methodology for selecting key projects for financing from the capital budget, where the important thing is not the quantity, but the right selection and sustainability.
The Capital Development Program for the coming year includes 14 projects whose goal is to improve the quality of life of citizens through the construction of apartments for socially vulnerable categories of the population, the reconstruction of city and rural roads, the improvement of the city's tourist offer and sports life.
The provision of a new location for RTV Cetinje's work and technical modernization was also announced. With the assessment that, with the support of the Senate of the Capital, significant results were achieved in the previous period in terms of the improvement of infrastructure and projects of general interest, it was assessed that the main task of the Senate and the local administration must be focused on creating new jobs for the citizens of the Capital, as well as permanently solving the issue of water supply .
On that line, Đukanović pointed out the need for a more proactive approach to attracting new investments, which will enable the creation of new jobs, which is a key need of the Capital and a vital existential interest of its citizens.
At today's Senate session, the Senate's Work Plan for the coming year was also adopted, with the assessment that this body in the previous period was also a service for the citizens of Cetinje, recognizing their needs and demands.
The session was also attended by members of the Senate, Vice President of the Government for Economic Policy and Financial System Milutin Simović, President of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts Dragan Vukčević, Rector of the University of Montenegro Danilo Nikolić, Minister of Culture Aleksandar Bogdanović, Mayor of the Capital City Aleksandar Kašćelan and President of the Capital City Assembly Maja Ćetković.
