The Socialist People's Party (SNP) expresses satisfaction with the decision of the authorities in Serbia, President Aleksandar Vučić and Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, to withdraw the decision to expel the Montenegrin ambassador, and we consider it a serious gesture by a serious country, Vladimir Joković, president of the SNP, announced today.
He added that they express their gratitude to the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Oliver Varhelji, who last night called on Montenegro to withdraw the decision to expel Serbian Ambassador Vladimir Božović.
"We are sure that this decision is completely in line with what the citizens of our country want, which is the further development of fraternal relations between Montenegro and Serbia. The European path has no alternative, and that is why we express our gratitude to the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Mr. Varhelji, who confirmed the unequivocal position of the European Union (EU) on respecting and developing good neighborly relations and regional cooperation," Joković pointed out, the SNP announced.
He added that "the SNP calls on the outgoing government to respect the decision of European officials, because this event also confirms the thesis that our party has been advocating all the time, which is that the adoption of European standards must be one of the priorities of the new government".
"On the other hand, the gesture of the outgoing government, unfortunately, showed their true face and the fact that they only verbally advocated for the European path, and that anti-state and anti-European politics were the basis of their rule all these years. The SNP will continue to give immeasurable contribution to the development of good, neighborly relations in the region, as we will continue the democratic path towards EU membership together with other government constituents," said Joković.
