The President of the Municipality of Budva, Marko Bato Carević, could be a candidate for the President of Montenegro in the elections of 2023. A hint of this information appeared on social networks, and that it is not completely unfounded has been confirmed by several sources, although in Carević's cabinet they did not confirm this, but they did not did not rule out the possibility.
The fact that Carevic will be a candidate of the New Serbian Democracy, of which he is an official, is widely promoted on social networks, where groups have also been created to gather support for the current mayor of Budva.
Tsarević led the coalition in Budva that bore his name and defeated the Democratic Party of Socialists, which achieved the worst election result in Budva in its political history. Tsarević's coalition in Budva won 30 percent of the vote in local elections on August 45.
It was Carević who was the biggest supporter of the current Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, whom he accompanied during the August elections to all political gatherings throughout Montenegro, said an interlocutor close to the President of the Municipality.
And while a video is playing on social networks in which, along with video clips from the rallies he led, Tsarević is promoting himself as a presidential candidate, his cabinet told the News that the mayor is committed to solving the problems he encountered from the former DPS government.
"The profile that was opened on the Instagram social network, which refers to the announcement of Mr. Carevic's candidacy for the presidency, is not official. It was probably created by supporters who think it's a good idea, which is of course legitimate because it's about freedom of opinion and expression. President Tsarević is currently committed to the duties of the first man of the Municipality of Budva", the cabinet told Vijesti.
Tsarević is one of the possible candidates of the Democratic Front in the 2023 presidential elections, bearing in mind that he has the highest popularity among the politicians of this political alliance, the interlocutor confirmed unofficially. Relations between the Budva official and the head office in Podgorica, which were strained for a time, have now been repaired, which supports the idea that he would be a possible candidate.
