Member of the presidency of the Democratic People's Party and official of the Democratic Front Vladislav Bojović called on Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić to "respect the position of the European Union" before his visit to Brussels and withdraw the decision to expel Serbian Ambassador Vladimir Božović.
Bojović assessed that the recent government's decision to expel Božović was "par excellence" political, not a real act, and that it was against not only diplomatic practice, "but first of all and above all, it is against European practice and European values."
The decision, adds Bojović, is also against the policy of good neighborly cooperation, which stands as a precondition for the European future of Montenegro, so the question arises - how Montenegro plans to build and develop good relations with Serbia, if it does not withdraw the decision on the expulsion of the ambassador made by the former power.
"There are no legal obstacles or obstacles to withdrawing this decision. Referring to a deadline of 72 hours, after which the decision to expel the ambassador cannot be withdrawn, is referring to something that does not exist in the legal system of Montenegro, this deadline is not concerns the agreement and is not recognized by the Vienna Convention," Bojović said.
Bearing in mind that Serbia did not recall its ambassador, he adds, Vladimir Božović is still the country's ambassador to Montenegro.
"Proceeding from the fact that the Republic of Serbia still has not recalled its ambassador, despite the technical minister Srđan Darmanović's notice of expulsion, nor has it proposed a new ambassador, this is the only situation in which the President of Montenegro has no authority. This means that the new government Montenegro can immediately withdraw the decision on the expulsion of Serbia's ambassador, without Milo Đukanović's consent. It is precisely because of the incorrect statement about the expiration of the agreement and the alleged need for Đukanović to solve this issue (although his signature is not on the MFA note) that the DPS actually wants Serbia to "There is no ambassador in Montenegro for months (as long as it takes to appoint, appoint, obtain agreement and prepare the new ambassador) and in this way he ties the hands of the new government and prevents it from normalizing relations with the most important neighbor," says Bojović.
If the decision to expel the Serbian ambassador is not withdrawn, the DF official believes that the biggest damage will be done to Montenegro, which, as he said, is of the greatest importance to develop the best possible cooperation and have the best good-neighborly relations with the countries of the region in all areas. and especially in terms of economic cooperation.
"Given that Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić has chosen Brussels as the first international address he will officially visit, it is of particular importance that the Commissioner for Enlargement of the European Union, Oliver Verhelji, communicated a clear message and position that Montenegro should follow the example of the state of Serbia and withdraws the decision on the expulsion of Ambassador Vladimir Božović. A key European official dealing with Montenegro's progress in the process of European integration announced the European Union's unequivocal position regarding the expulsion of Serbia's ambassador from Montenegro. That is why we expect Prime Minister Krivokapić to visit Brussels first, together with as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, withdrew the decision on the expulsion of the ambassador and in this way said that Montenegro respects the position of the European Commission and wants to build the best relations with its neighbors. Opposing the clear position of the most important European official for the enlargement policy could only further slow down and make further progress difficult European integration of Montenegro and its European perspective," concludes Bojović.
