The vice-president and deputy of the Socialist People's Party (SNP) Danijela Đurović called on the head of Montenegrin diplomacy Đorđe Radulović and Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić to urgently make a decision to recall Ambassador Milica Pejanović Đurišić and the entire Montenegrin delegation to the United Nations.
Đurović stated as the reason for that request that the delegation of our country abstained at last week's session of the UN General Assembly, when voting for the draft Resolution on suppressing the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to encouraging modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related activities .
"This behavior of our delegation led by Ambassador Milica Pejanović Đurišić is absolutely reprehensible. Montenegro must not be a vassal of other people's interests and bow to other EU member states that also abstained, just because this resolution was proposed by Russia. We will Let's start conducting our own politics and respect our interests for once," Đurović stated in the statement.
She said that the belief that the anti-fascist heritage of Montenegro is the foundation of its statehood and modernity has been seriously shaken, and asked whether daily politics and the principle of non-recrimination are allowed to influence the country's constitutional commitments.
"If we accepted the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, as well as the Durban Declaration and the Action Program for the fight against racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia, and as a country that had tens of thousands of victims in the Second World War, then it is quite logical that we always and everywhere condemns any form of fascism. However, not everything is as we declaratively advocate," the vice-president of the SNP pointed out.
While the delegation of the Capital City, as she said, at the celebration of Podgorica's Liberation Day, is proud of celebrating the jubilee - the 75th anniversary of liberation in the National Liberation War in which the Montenegrin people made a historic contribution to the victory over fascism and the liberation of the Yugoslav peoples, "at the same time, our Delegation at the UN denies the same of that value."
"Gentlemen from the DPS, until now you have turned your view of history countless times like a sunflower depending on the daily needs. You must understand that you are no longer the measure of the statehood of Montenegro, but that it belongs to all its citizens. The actions of your ambassadors are unacceptable for the new and a free Montenegro," said Đurović.
