The Parliament of Montenegro announced that Bečić visited Herceg Novi Municipality yesterday and met with the President of the Municipality Stevan Katic, Vice Presidents Vesna Samardžić and Miloš Konjević, President of the Municipal Assembly Nikola Samardžić and Chief Administrator Nenad Đorđević.
"Herceg Novi has a reliable partner in the Parliament of Montenegro, who on sound grounds wants to work together with the local administration in the interest of the citizens," said Bečić.
He expressed his belief that the new ruling majority will work with local governments to overcome the challenges they face.
"I believe that we will finally have resolved the issue of abolishing tolls on the Meljina - Petijevići road, and that the Government will give a significant incentive to move towards decentralization, because in this way we are strengthening local self-government, expanding the scope of source income and thus helping the development component of municipalities," he said. is Becic.
The statement adds that he "especially referred to numerous projects of the local government, the implementation of which was largely unimpeded even in the difficult conditions of the coronavirus pandemic, with a special emphasis on the facility of the Day Center, an adventure park that is the pride of Montenegro and the region , as well as the opening of the first hotel owned by the municipality".
"The President of the Assembly also expressed his satisfaction with the responsible social policy of the Municipality's leadership, which is reflected in the care of the youngest and older fellow citizens, as well as young people and athletes, and through incentive measures for family expansion. It is stated that during the meeting with the presidents of the aldermen's clubs, Bečić had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the work of the local parliament and recently adopted decisions.
"Representatives of political parties presented their views on current socio-political events, as well as the importance of strengthening the role of local parliaments in Montenegro. Bečić emphasized that stability, along with the democratic culture of government and opposition that Herceg Novi has always nurtured, is the basis for the development of the Novi region and the whole of Montenegro," the announcement reads.
The Assembly also said that the visit was an opportunity for Bečić to visit the location of the construction of the first underground garage and the new square in Herceg Novi, the renovated Pavilion of City Music, as well as the new facility of the Day Center for children with disabilities and developmental difficulties, the construction of which is in the final stage.
