The new government threatens the health of Montenegrin citizens with irresponsible decisions, said the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), and requested the correction of all illogicalities in the new approach to the fight against the coronavirus.
The member of the Presidency of that party, Halil Duković, said that the Government, "with an inexplicable decision from the position of epidemiological assessment", opened its borders for the entry of citizens of other countries without any proof of their good health, i.e. without any test.
"At a time when all European countries protect their citizens and strictly control their borders and the entry of passengers, require a PCR test and quarantine, in order to prevent the increase in the number of sick people, but also the appearance of a mutated virus, the Government made a startling decision to abolish all controls?!" , said Duković.
According to him, foreign travelers are officially invited to disobey the laws of Montenegro.
"In fact, recently, all visitors to the portal of the Institute of Public Health have been constantly directed to download the Health Warning for travelers coming from countries where cases of infection caused by the new coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed," said Duković.
As he said, that document is not at all in accordance with the currently valid measures.
"Wearing masks always and everywhere, for a long period of time in Montenegro, is a legal obligation, and its non-compliance is considered a criminal offense in the sense of "acts against people's health", Duković stated.
However, as he said, foreigners are warned to "immediately put masks over their mouths and noses" "only if they feel symptoms of infection."
"Because, probably someone was guided by the logic that foreigners cannot be asymptomatic?! After all, what kind of effects can be expected from such a general and mild warning on half the page?!", asked Duković.
He reminded that, during that time, many countries of the world introduce stricter and more rigorous measures specifically for foreigners, "not without reason."
According to him, after the emergence of a new strain of the SARS-COV 2 virus - VUI 202012/01, it is the duty of all responsible countries in the world to protect their citizens from the mutated virus that spreads much faster.
"Our new government is either so irresponsible that it exposes all the citizens of Montenegro to this danger, or it has some invention of its own to protect the population without controlling entry into the country, so it would be appropriate to make this patent known to other world governments," said Duković.
According to him, it is an irresponsible approach that has put different interests above people's health.
"That is why we are asking for the correction of all illogicalities in the new approach to the fight against the coronavirus. Of course, we also need a clear and transparent answer to the question: When does vaccination against COVID 19 start in Montenegro and with which vaccine manufacturers have we signed contracts?", said Duković.
He reminded that the vaccine was announced in the first quarter, then in January, then in early February.
"It is unfortunate that, while we look at countries in the surrounding area that vaccinate their citizens, the citizens of Montenegro, with wide open borders, exposed to various strains of this virus, are waiting for "experts". Unfortunately, everything is very reminiscent of the paraphrase of the title of the series by the brilliant Živko Nikolić - "The vaccine has not arrived yet, and we don't know when...", concluded Duković.
