The European integration of Montenegro has no alternative and remains at the top of the agenda of the foreign policy priorities of our country, which is a credible partner of the European family, said the head of Montenegrin diplomacy Đorđe Radulović at the meeting of the ambassadors of the member states of the European Union, organized by the EU Delegation in Podgorica.
As confirmation of our pro-European orientation, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the fact that according to the latest public opinion survey, almost 80 percent of the Montenegrin population supports membership in the EU is also evidence.
Radulović stated that the fact that Berlin was chosen for his first official visit is a clear signal of the new government's foreign policy commitment, which, he said, is dedicated to relations with EU partners. The head of Montenegrin diplomacy said that the EU, "in the most difficult times we are witnessing", has shown that it remains a support for the Western Balkan region, bearing in mind that even under such conditions, the enlargement policy was promoted. Thus, as he said, a clear message was sent that our region belongs to the European family of nations in terms of values and institutions. Radulović emphasized that Montenegro will strongly support the European path of its neighbors and that it is available for any type of assistance, according to the ministry.
Radulović expressed his belief that the process of European integration has a transformative character that contributes to the overall development of the state and society. He emphasized, it is added, that all administrative capacities and political will will be aimed at dynamizing all activities and efforts in terms of speeding up the negotiation process, in which cooperation with diplomatic representatives of the EU and its member states in the country will be of immeasurable importance. Also, the head of Montenegrin diplomacy emphasized that Montenegro fully harmonizes its foreign policy with the EU's foreign and security policy positions, which is a clear indication of its commitment to the negotiation process.
Radulović, as announced by the ministry, also informed those present about current political topics in the country, in which the inter-institutional dialogue of the three presidents - the state, the Government and the Assembly - is of particular importance, as well as about issues of key importance for further socio-economic progress.
EU Ambassador to Montenegro Oana Kristina Popa said that, through support for key reforms and priorities related to the EU agenda of Montenegro, all relevant political and social actors have the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to the European future of Montenegro in practice, added the MFA. She pointed to the importance of the Common European Market as a key initiative for the closer integration of the region into the EU Single Market even before the actual accession to the European Union, as well as the engagement of the representatives of Montenegro in the capacity of Secretary General of the Center for Regional Cooperation (RCC), starting from January 1 next year .
The meeting, the ministry concluded, was an opportunity for the minister to familiarize the interlocutors with all current topics in the country, especially in the context of their influence on foreign policy activities.
