It is inadmissible that in a democratic state of the 21st century, intensive campaigns targeting women are conducted, all with the aim of trying to discredit them and achieve political goals by illegal and immoral methods, announced today Zdenka Popović, Member of Parliament for Democratic Montenegro and Nataša Kolčević. president of the Demos Women's Forum.

"In the post-election period, we have noticed various forms of inadmissible attacks on women, which clearly indicate that it is necessary to take concrete measures so that Montenegrin society does not enter the zone of collapse, because human dignity has no price, nor can it be bought. Threatening someone's dignity on the ways that we could see in our reality, represent a disgusting act, which is morally, ethically and legally inadmissible," Popović and Kolčević pointed out in a joint statement.

They added that society and institutions must strongly oppose all forms of attacks on the rights and freedom of women.

"Everyone, according to Article 47 of the Constitution of Montenegro, has freedom of expression and this should certainly be affirmed. However, paragraph 2 of Article 47 also expressly prescribes a limitation if the freedom of expression is misused in this way. We believe that this kind of message represents a violation of the reputation and morals of our entire society It is absurd to talk at all about the creators of tasteless illustrations, which the public has been preoccupied with in recent days, because these and similar attacks do not reflect the image of the democratic society we strive for," said Popović and Kolčević.

They said that they believe that it is necessary to tighten the criminal policy in this field, in which direction our parliamentary group will act and propose appropriate interventions of the Criminal Code.

"Montenegrin society must be directed towards progress, and not towards improper models of behavior. If we do not fight for the sanctioning of all forms of attacks on members of the female sex, we allow and open the way to organized persecution of women, our mothers and sisters", concluded Popović and Kolčević .
